A Return To Freeper Island?
me | 11-10-2008 | Houmatt

Posted on 11/10/2008 8:07:54 AM PST by Houmatt

With Barack Obama and even more Democrats in Congress come 2009, doesn't having a Freeper Island to escape to sound awfully tempting? I mean, if we only had one?

It reminds me of a line from the Watchmen trailer:

"God help us all."

For anyone who has the technical talent and interest, set up FReeper Island on secondlife.com. We would love to visit.

As the guy that started the “Freeper Island” string, I can only say the it was a great diversion, and lots of fun. I wish it were archived somewhere.

For us newbies (I just passed my one year posting, but read FR for news for a long time before that), what was “Freeper Island”?

Freeper Island — a thread that grew from a Freeper’s announcement on another thread that if things continued, he would move to an island. Much of the original thread has been preserved HERE (link broken). The term “Hijacked to Freeper Island” refers to any thread that veers from its original subject into “anarchistic mirth” (for lack of a better term) around a completely different subject.

Neat idea. I am sure there are small islands out there....there are actually “island brokers” selling them.

I am sure a few wealthy Freepers and lots of small donations from the rest could easily purchase a small one.

Wouldn’t that be something? It would be a great thing to either visit or stay permanently. We would keep our American citizenships so we could still vote absentee of course!

Of course, IIRC, Freeper Island isn’t a literal place discussed, only a imaginary paradise for the mind based upon a thread.

But, why not buy a real place to start a little Freeper colony?

I think it would be neat.

Sorry to disagree but that does not sound tempting at all. I come here to discuss conservative ideas but I live in the real world. I have friends of all political stripes and I like it that way. During my lifetime, John McCain is the sorriest excuse of a Republican to get the nomination. We deserved to lose this one. Had John McCain differentiated himself in some way from Obama during the socialist bail-out he might have had a chance.

As far as keeping company with only those people who post here, there are definitely some very intelligent and funny people who hang out here but there are also some nut jobs that I would never choose to isolate myself with on an island. Present company excluded, of course.

Thanks, and it lists a thread for Freeper Island. Maybe it was preserved.

Somehow I don’t think my WW2 vet father would have been too happy with me abandoning my country when it needed me the most.

Sheet! I’m not going to retreat to some ‘island’ while Obama and his commie crew go about destroying America. We need to stand our ground and fight, not run off somewhere and cower.

May I suggest the island of Palmyra in the middle of the Pacific Ocean! It even has an airstrip, and all of the other comforts of home for those of us who want to start our own colony!

We can establish the “Free Republic” right here on the mainland of North America. We may have to dig in, and maintain a bunker for a while, but we should never, never adopt the “bunker mentality”. We are under aerial and terristrial attack, by those who would seize all we have, and they seem to think that we shall succumb to an extended siege.

But we shall not surrender, we shall not compromise. WE establish a beachhead, and bit by bit, these beachheads link up. Think of the ideal of America, like Great Britain in 1940 and 1941, standing tough and prepared to repel the invasion that threatened to enter and overwhelm people in their very homes, imposing an alien will and alien concepts.

Think of the United States not necessarily in terms of state by state, but county by county. The truly “blue” counties are probably numbered around 600 or so, the “red” counties amount to some 3,000 or so. The states are gerrymandered is such manner that the STRENGTH of those “red” counties is greatly diluted by the incorporation of enough “blue” precincts to reshape the relative complexion of a congressional district.

The Second Amendment is still a valid principle.

Good hunting.
