Palin Expresses Concern About Spending Bill
Office of the Governor of Alaska ^

Posted on 02/02/2009 5:59:10 PM PST by WillT

February 1, 2009, Juneau, Alaska - Governor Sarah Palin this weekend met with business, economic and political leaders in the nation’s capital to discuss problems she sees for Alaska with the pending economic stimulus package in Congress.

"Alaska and other states need to be treated fairly,” Governor Palin said. “Much of the stimulus plan we've seen focuses on spending for government programs that would be a burden on states to continue funding, and doesn't focus enough on spending that actually does put people back to work and stimulate the economy. Working with our D.C. staff, I took advantage of the opportunity to speak with Democrats and Republicans to voice my concerns. I appreciate their time and assistance in paying attention to our state."

A very lonely voice in the wilderness, isn’t she?

I’m afraid she’s going to have many occasions to express her concern over the next four years. But as the months drag on, her concerns will be shared by more and more of the general public. 2012 is not as far away as it seems right now.

I’m glad this is being posted instead of the erroneous report from the AP(then followed by Fox News) that she was for the package. Also, if you read Michelle Malkin’s site she says how Palin and Sanford both feel the same way about this pork package, both are against it

Glen Beck was saying she supported the stimulos package. Where did he get that?

Her statement is political double talk She is against “bad” increased spending for “good” increased spending. Like most politicians, she doesn’t realize that this time to cut overall spending not increase it. The pro-Palin rationalizations here never cease to amaze.

I hope she stays within the political orbit of this president-who-lacks-any-executive-experience to keep him off-balance. Buzzes Washington, D.C. once in a while. She displays common sense. They display comm-unism.

It'll give her cred and, as a hunteress(sp?), will effectively destroy plans they might have of ressurecting gun bans. The NRA should put her front and center on their next magazine. And the magazine after that.

Caribou Barbie can shut Handgun Control, Inc. or Violence Policy Institute, Brady Bunch, or whatever they call themselves, down.

Good looks, brains, and values that reflect what got America to the "dance" will go a long way. Freedom's around the corner folks. Hang in there.

Foxnews.com reported over the weekend that she supported the stimulus. Do you think they will report this aricle?

Let's say your car won't start. You've got to spend something, but not sure what you need. If the starter is out, try that. If it's fuel starved, try a new fuel pump and filter.

What Obysmal wants to do is put in a new sun-roof (solar), throw some bio into the tank, and switch-out the tires and rims.

My biggest gripe is: where was the maintainence?!! Republicans and Dems passed on the oil changes imo. A country's gotta run smooth. All the coughing and spitting of late suggests our pit-crews ain't cutting it. (see dirty, corrupt, politicians)

Captain I refer you to Michelle Malkin’s article.
Also there is a funny thing about politicians.....they act like politicians.
I like Sarah!

Me either. This one ranks up there with her immigration stand. Obviously you and I are the skunks at the lawn party.

Spending on infrastructure for development projects which will generate new wealth in the future IS good.

As distinct from "free money" to churn the existing economy. That IS bad (almost as bad as cutting spending so you don't develop for the future; that never gets you out of the hole)

Every thread concerning Palin always attracks her detracters, but as far as I’m concerned, she is a whole lot better than 0bama, and that’s who has to be defeated. Is she perfect, no. A perfect candidate is one that agrees with me one hundred percent. What’s my chances of finding one of those, ahhh, how about 0. Is there someone else out there currently who has the grassroots support that she does? I don’t think so. Is there someone out there who close to 60 million didn’t mind casting their ballot with him or her on the ticket, no. Is there someone out there who has the potential to raise enough money so as he or she would not have to accept public financing if nominated, I don’t think so.

So, although not perfect, my honest opinion is that, as of right now, she has the best chance to defeat 0bama. Until someone better, my support goes to Gov. Palin

The rationalizations for Saint Sarah continue. Heck,if she wants to spend more on "infrastructure" (which could include countless sins btw) fine.....but this should be offset by even GREATER CUTS elsewhere (otherwise we're deeper in the hole). In short, the next budget and defict should be smaller than the current one.

This is only common sense. What do you tell you friends in debt? You don't tell them to spend more on their "infrascture" (driveway). Instead, you tell them to tighten their belts and cut overall spending and tell them that if way more "infrastructure" they should tighten their belts and still get a net budget and debt reduction. Saint Sarah ISN'T doing that.
