Every so often a president finds himself standing completely exposed--naked, so to speak--before the political class.
This first happened to George W. Bush in October 2005, when Bush nominated his White House counsel, Harriet Miers, to the Supreme Court. In Miers, the chief executive had chosen neither a lawyer of intellectual distinction nor a reliable conservative. As she began making courtesy calls on members of the Senate Judiciary Committee, word began leaking from the offices of astonished senators that her purchase on even the most basic constitutional case law proved tenuous.
Opposition to Miers mounted. No less a figure that Judge Robert Bork denounced the nomination as "a disaster on every level." Less than a month after putting Miers' name forward, Bush withdrew her nomination.
Before the Miers episode, even Bush's sharpest critics in Washington had to grant that he was a canny politician. After the Miers episode, even Bush's most zealous supporters in town had to grant that the chief executive was capable of action even when he had no earthly idea what he was doing.
President Bush's moment of nakedness took place more than four years and eight months into his administration. In office less than three weeks, President Obama has already provided a naked moment of his own.

He stands exposed and it’s NOT pretty.
The GOP will probably bail Obama out and we will have a marxist islamo police state forever. The future of the country hangs in the balance to stop this bill.
We recovered from Carter but unless Orly, Berg or soemone else gets SCOTUS to do their job it is pretty much over.
Obama naked, let me picture that ... ugh, tilt, uck ...
I think the socialist DemoRATS are in for a big surprise...sooner or a bit later. They will get their ripoff of the American taxpayer (a loan from our enemies really since none of it is in the treasury).
And it is not going to work. All their BS about “it won’t generate results until 2010 or 2012 is just that — BS. They will spend when spending suits their election cycles and power moves. It really has nothing to do with stimulation of an economy they really do not care about.
This guy in the White House is awful. I fear for my country.
What we are currently seeing in this Jackal is his lack of executive experience. Besides a very one sided poor performance in trying to communicate things he’s quickly falling into the old forked tongue fool so many Dems seem to be. He blames the block on partisan behavior and yet there are some from his own party saying hold up. I expect to see him jumping up and down like a 5 year old demanding he get his way if this doesn’t go through within his personal time frame so he can pat himself on the back. This is his single BIGGEST flaw in all of this. Lack of executive experience. He can fake being the poster child for his race and a pathetic give me a freebie party at the expense of the honest, hardworking, tax paying citizen but actually ask of him to be presidential and he’s still convinced his on the campaign trail. God help this country. We’ve got a sobber Paris Hilton type as our president who has no idea what in hell he is doing or suggesting. 9 billion dollars?
Don’t be fearful, JC....set your eyes on the only one who can heal the nations in that day.
Zero’s “naked moment” would be a deliriously orgasmic moment for the old bags at The View...
You are correct; his only job experience in his life was registering people to vote. This country is getting what it deserves for voting this clown in.
I don’t count his time as a politician as job experience because that actually should be considered time engaged in criminal activites (for him as well as all policitians - this nation’s true criminal class).
Well, after all, it is the first real job he has ever had.
