Patrick Swayze cut a gaunt figure when he was spotted in public for the first time in weeks. The actor, who is fighting pancreatic cancer, looked gaunt and frail as he defiantly smoked a cigarette while waiting for wife Lisa Niemi in Beverly Hills.
Once famed for his athletic body and steamy routines in the 1987 hit movie Dirty Dancing, the actor now looks a shadow of his former self.
The 56-year-old smoked several cigarettes in under 10 minutes, according to onlookers, puffing big clouds of smoke out of the truck.'He was puffing away and appeared as if he didn't have a care in the world. It's so sad,' said one.
Reports from the US suggest that he has stopped treatment for the cancer, including chemotherapy, after experiencing extreme side-effects such as excruciating dental pain making it impossible to chew food.

He is believed to have undergone dental surgery to repair his damaged gums and save his teeth.

The guy is dying for cripes sake. Let hin enjoy his smokes. When it comes my time I may damn well do the same thing.
I guess when you are a dead man walking it really doesn’t matter.
My understanding is that he’s already going to die.
Why should he bother to quit smoking?
Why can’t these parasites let the guy die in peace?
I don’t smoke and can’t stand cigarette smoke but he’s basically living under a death sentence right now. If he wants to chain smoke 24X7 and it gives him a little pleasure, that’s his business.

He is doing the right thing IMO. It’s too late to stop or benefit from quitting , so he may as well enjoy the last days of his life.

And this whole “battling” pancreatic cancer is a load of crap. It’s not a matter if it gets you, it’s how soon.
Let him alone.
At this point, all the clean living in the world isn’t going to change Swayze’s fate.
Guess what? We're all gonna die. He just happens to know that his death is closely impending.
Smoke all you want, get Idaho style drunk, cram your pie hole full of twinkies or raw steaks. Who cares?
Live what you've got left to the fullest. Don't cower away from things, fanning away second hand smoke with a parlor fan, hoping against hope that you can somehow squeeze another moment of suffering misery out of life.
Why can’t they let the poor guy die in peace? I HATE THE MEDIA.
Go for it Patrick - he’s a 100+ cigarette a day smoker ... passed out once from oxygen deprivation while flying his plane, crashed landed in a development under construction ... if smoking gives him comfort then who has the right to tell him how to live whatever is left of his life ... gives him peace ....
His series ‘Beast’ seem to be doing well. Too bad he won’t live long enough to reap any awards.
This is totally WTF. Why is the smoking an issue. I’d be finding something to shoot up if I were in his shoes.
