A 17-year-old boy was struck and killed by a vehicle while apparently tagging the center divider on the 60 Freeway near Hall Avenue early Saturday.

Blake Locko, 17, of Riverside, was struck in the carpool lane about 2:15 a.m. and thrown across the 5-foot-high center divider into the eastbound carpool lane, where he was struck by several vehicles, according to the California Highway Patrol....

The driver who first struck Locko was not expected to be cited in the death.

This is a tragedy! And definitely not a cause for celebration, you sickos. Half a dozen innocent vehicles are going to need body work now.

How DO you sleep at night?

What was a MINOR doing in the middle of a busy highway at 2:00 a.m.???? If anything, the so-called parents of the vandal should be cited. It was their kid who endangered those traveling on the freeway where cars are supposed to be. Could have gone to any LIEberal arts school and picked up a canvas if the DUmmy had any talent.

Apparently the driver of the car that hit him suffered neck injury when his airbag detonated. Not good news

David and Justine Locko, parents of Patriot High School senior Blake Locko, are not just grieving their son's loss, but also worrying about the trauma to motorists who hit the teenager early Saturday

Blake wrestled with personal issues stemming from a childhood head injury that had left his face partially paralyzed, and a traffic accident when he was 10 in which his left arm was badly burned,

Rest in peace, Blake. Every one of us did idiotic things in our youth. I guess some of us forget.

In the “personal demons” category, add growing up in a violent urban sprawl with hundreds of thousands of active gang members - and a steady state of criminality which necessitates the use of concertina wire around all freeway signs to keep other “artists” from their work.

Though based on observations during a recent interstate drive - the mess seems to be spreading from LA, quite far.

Blake wrestled with personal issues stemming from a childhood head injury that had left his face partially paralyzed, and a traffic accident when he was 10 in which his left arm was badly burned, Harris said.

His arm had severe scarring and he underwent reconstructive surgery. He wore a flesh-colored band from his wrist to above his elbow.

Harris acknowledged that Blake had been involved in previous tagging incidents.

Despite that, Blake was on track to graduate in June and had made his mark at the school as a gifted artist.

"He was one of our top painters," said DeWayne Mason, who teaches art at Patriot High. "For a high school student, he was doing college-level painting."

"He had some personal demons," Mason said. "But he was an easygoing, laid back, thoughtful kind of a kid."

Harris said Blake went out Friday night with some friends. His mother text messaged him when he missed his 1 a.m. curfew. He replied that he was going to drop off some friends and then head home.

Harris said the family believes he was with three other boys and have tried to contact them, but they have not called back.

"People who knew Blake over his lifetime know that he was a good boy who, unfortunately, made a bad decision," Harris said. "We've all made bad choices as youths during our lifetime."

I did some hair-curling stuff when I was young.

Prayers for the family.

I didn't know what this “tagging” was until it was explained as being like Russian Roulette with a Gatling gun.
