A Miramar based AH-1 Cobra went down near Pine Valley, between San Diego and El Centro. Both crewmembers have died. Recovery is hampered by exploding ordnance and the remote terrain.

Bummer, prayers for their families.
Click on pic for past Navair pings.
Post or FReepmail me if you wish to be enlisted in or discharged from the Navair Pinglist.
The only requirement for inclusion in the Navair Pinglist is an interest in Naval Aviation.
This is a medium to low volume pinglist.

RIP
God Bless their souls, and comfort their families.
A couple of FReepers heard it go down.
Pine Valley in mid east county of S.D.
Not even close to El Centro
Yup. El Centro is hell and gone from there
May God Bless the families of these brave Marines and may these Marines rest in peace.

The Cobra left El Centro and was flying to Miramar.
It’s so hard to read news like this. I hope they recover the bodies. I dread to think how young and skilled they were.
RIP, gentlemen.
The winds in the mountain passes east of Pine Valley are hellacious. Desert air meets maritime.
RIP, skid kids.
Desert air meets maritime.
This is true. Living near downtown and the bay, don’t see those situations.
Have Marine relatives at Camp Pendleton,
Air, and a Dr.
If one is a MD he/she is a sailor, not a Marine.

Military helicopters flying directly over any community whether it be over the backcountry or the city with live ordinance aboard is not the sound of Freedom. It's the "Sound of Insanity."
How many crashes in our neighborhoods and lose of life will it take to address this over neglected very serious problem?
From a poster Sally_SDCA (All of the typos, misspellings and grammatical errors are hers)
You are exactly right
It's because the military has had a firm grasp of our community for many decades, with an agenda that bennefits the MILITARY, not our city
of course any posts like ours will be torn to shreds here, the military people will come on in droves to make threats and try and silence us
posting an article critical of the military on here is like criticizing the Catholic Church to a bunch of priests, they all have a one-sided agenda
I agree with you about leadership. Although San Diego is slowly changing, we still elect jellyfish leaders who pander to the military and let the military use our city like a cheap floosey
Thank goodness for the few good ones, like Susan Davis
If it were not for Susan Davis holding press conferences ad FORCING the recluse military leadership to give the public information and answer questions about the crash last year that killed a family and destroyed homes, Miramar would have gladly kept it swept under the rug and kept the community in the dark
That's what they want -
(1) free reign to do whatever they please regardless of ite effects on the civilian poulation
(2) no questions asked by civilians
(3) a civilian population that is docile and gives them praise blindly
CLOSE MIRAMAR
I wonder how many conspiracy theories live in THAT mind
If one is a MD he/she is a sailor, not a Marine.
I know this. He wears a Marine uniform.
Is attached to the 1st Maarines as a MD
