“....realize how fortunate you are to have the kind of relationship you have always had with your dad. Be supportive, don’t judge and love him for the parent he has always been.....”

Actually, not to get into a religious fight, but that sounds quite Christ-like to me. Love others, don’t judge, respect your elders, etc.

Easier said than done, though. I would be pretty shocked if I were in the son’s shoes.

Umm, Christ was not too cool about
bad sexual morals. Remember, he
actually said “ GO, and SIN NO MORE “
not, “OK, whatever, who am I to judge?”

You omitted the part where Christ would say “When you are having sex with other men, that is wrong, but that wrong is not enough to take you outside my love. Repent, be at peace, go and sin no more”.

The judging part is way out of context also. The Bible teaches christians that they will “judge angels”, they are to “privately rebuke some one that is sinning” and “teach righteousness”. New age cafeteria christianity, where you load up on the love & grace and blow off the holiness & righteousness makes for christianity warped beyond the gospel.

No fight, but your notion of what constitutes "Christ-like" is rather secular. Christ demonstrated nothing but disdain for those who would not acknowledge their sinfulness.

Uh...you’re forgetting, “Go and sin no more”, right after the forgiving part...

Your point is true...somewhat. This is why:

First off “do not judge...” is taken WAY out of context. This simply means you CAN NOT judge a person’s heart for God. That is, no one has the right to say “that Christian’s heart is not right with God’s..” Only GOD knows that. telling another Christian they are doing something wrong is actually in the Bible...look under 1 Corinthians chapter 5. You are supposed to “confront” obvious sin with in the Church body. Now outside the Church is a different story....continued below...

Now to the next point. You are right that we are to love that person. However, if you believe something to be WRONG, then wouldn’t that mean the “Christian” is compromising their belief? Why is that ok?
So, yes...we are told to love. However, we can not support the “habit” that we believe is wrong. The easiest way to explain it: Would it be right of me to supply my alcoholic friend with cases of booze? That would mean I love him right? No, that would be wrong... a true friend would be there for him and discourage his lifestyle. Who would be the true friend:
-The person enabling with more alcohol?
-The person who takes the time to care enough not to enable but to take the time to pray, care and help his friend without endorsing his habit?

Uh, no.

Christ never told anyone to accept disgusting behavior. His message was one of repentence--forgiveness of sins, not acceptance of sinful behavior. "Go and sin no more," is what he said to the women caught in adultery. Not, "Go and sin all you like."
