Heres some great footage from that panel discussion between Alice Waters, Anthony Bourdain, and Duff Goldman. Waters sets Bourdain up for the kill when she says, You can have the hot dog on the train, but you better ask them where you got the hot dog. I want to know that its a grass-fed beef hot dog. Thats whats important. Where did the bun come from? Where did the flour come from? And then Bourdain moves in: Is it a good hot dog? Thats all I want to know
I dont think the personal health and purity of my colon is that important compared to pleasure. As a chef, Im not your dietitian or your ethicist. Im in the pleasure business
. My responsibility is to give you the most delicious tomato that I can afford, given the circumstances, and maybe increase the likelihood that you get laid after dinner. Waters: Not amused.

Have a great holiday everyone.
And a grateful salute of thanks to all our veterans, and prayers for our fallen heroes who have given all for the preservation of our liberties.
Bordain is a self-important ass. Funny as all get out, mind you, but still pompous.
Waters sounds like a new age loonatic
When I first saw the headline with hot dog I misread Bordain as the Cajun sausage boudin. Tastes great, but be nearby your bathroom soon afterwards.
I liked Bourdain “back in the old days”, but not the direction he’s taken nor the company he now keeps.
The foo-foo food crowd.

Lordy that is so on target! Nothing is sadder than someone who believes his own press releases.
No intestinal problems to worry about.

LOL. Love Anthony Bourdain. He is an iconoclast and loves to take pompous asses down a peg. Tony is as at home eating a family meal in a Chinese peasant’s house as he is in a four star restaurant. I love his show. He is truly a man of the people. He smokes and drinks and isn’t ashamed about it. Go Tony!!
I bet dats killer in da gumbo, you bet!
Bourdain is a big lib, but he still has the heart of a great travel writer.
His Travel Channel show is (for me anyway) immensely entertaining, even if the Mexican border episode had me rolling my eyes.
Typical, tony show:
Ingratiate self to the people.
Eat with the people.
Get drunk with the people.
Grouse about how it sucks here.
Yea, maybe.
His himbo-like political commentary gets awfully old and quickly starts to grate.
"His Travel Channel show is (for me anyway) immensely entertaining, even if the Mexican border episode had me rolling my eyes."
Yea that one required an air sickness bag, alright.
The Vietnam show OTOH, was another matter.
I learned there's nothing for an induced aneurysm.
Yes, you nailed it. I actually like his show (when he's in an interesting place) but he has a formula and he sticks to it. Spends most of the time complaining about how awful it is, except when he's dealing face to face with real people, in which case he's generally pretty gracious. He's a little bit PC at times, which annoys me, but its still one of the shows I watch.
Waters is a certifiable moonbat. At the end of the clip (Yeah I watched it all) she says let’s feed every kid, breakfast, lunch and dinner, FREE food!
Ditto his Laos episode. His efforts to be PC get in the way of what would otherwise have been a good show.
Hey I'm a self important ass too. Well maybe not so self important but I'm still an ass!
I love the show L0L!
I think there should be a rule here: If you mention a recipe, you have to post it. : )
Pick on Tony Bourdain Ping!
you forgot the afternoon snack.
