Time for shooting ranges to institute a policy of “Bring a Gun to Rent a Gun”, under the theory that if you were going to off yourself, you would have done it at home with your own firearm.
How do you practice "shooting yourself in the head" rounds?
Yes, because, probably 10 nutbags in a nation of 306,752,458 individuals offed themselves with a rented gun, we must outlaw gun rentals immediately. /s
I have a millennium pro for sale right now because I liked it in the store. Now the rangeowner where I shoot brings out goodies for me to try that he thinks I might like. Unfortunately, he seems to know what I like and my wish list at the local gunstore seems to grow longer each week.
And that would be your right as an individual range owner. What I resist is interference by well intentioned people which would restrict a gun range owner'e choices about his own particular business, and what services, or amenities he chooses to offer his patrons.
There used to be a great range in Homewood, AL which I decided to visit while on vacation there from TX. Not everyone on vacation has their own gun, so renting guns to them certainly was of benefit to both owner & customer.
I see no reason to restrict any firearm rentals because of the occasional suicide. It happens now and again but compared to how many rentals occur per day/week/month, etc. it’s an exceedingly rare occurance. There is no reason to restrict the activities of everyone because some mentally disturbed person is going to grease himself. If he doesn’t do it with a rental gun he’ll jump out a window, or run his car into a tree, take sleeping pills, etc.
Several years ago I went to a range in Manchester, NH in the morning and later that day a guy shot himself. It was kind of weird but I’m glad I didn’t decide to go in the afternoon.
No, it’s not.
The BASICS, my friend, the basics.
Firm steady grip. Squeeze the trigger, dont pull or jerk. (I guess we will have to forget sights). Be sure of your back stop.
Every time you go out to practice it is important to spend time on the basics.
A couple thousand rounds may be excessive, but we dont know how long it has been cense he last practiced:)
IMHO this is a lot better than the ‘suicide by cop’ nutjobs. They really screw with the heads of LEOs.
Maybe it would be different if they had people watching over the booths?
