Dame Elizabeth Taylor will not be attending Michael Jackson’s memorial at Staples Center on Tuesday.
The legendary actress posted the news today on her Twitter page, confirming that she had been “asked to speak at Staples Center” but she could not “be part of the public whoopla.”
“I said I wouldn’t go to the Staples Center and I certainly don’t want to become part of it. I love him too much,” Taylor continued. “I just don’t believe that Michael would want me to share my grief with millions of others. How I feel is between us. Not a public event. And I cannot guarantee that I would be coherent to say a word.”
Despite her grief, the ailing Taylor also made sure to tell fans that, contrary to reports, she is not contemplating suicide.
“Although my grief over Michael could not be any deeper, I am not on suicide watch as some of the cheaper ‘rags’ would have you believe,” Taylor tweeted. “I am a survivor, not only for myself, but for my family and for Michael too.”

Thanks for posting this. I’ve been very concerned about how Elizabeth Taylor has been dealing with the sudden death of her dear friend Micheal. Elizabeth is a strong woman and I think she will get through this.
Yes she is, but actually I think she makes sense regarding the public display being put on. The family should have shown some decorum and had a private memorial/burial. This display is being put on to drive record sales and further the hype. It’s all about money.
