MARION, Ala. – Two Alabama families that had been fighting for years turned their feud into a full-scale riot Monday outside a small-town city hall, with up to 150 screaming people hurling tire irons and wielding baseball bats. Eight people were arrested, and at least four were hurt, Trooper John Reese said. Two were taken to hospitals. The town's police chief was hit in the head with a crowbar but was OK.
The two- or three-year-old feud apparently prompted a fight earlier in the day at a high school, after a window was shot out of a home Sunday night. Then, "all hell broke loose" later in the day, said Sgt. Carlton Hogue of the Perry County Sheriff's Department.
"It was a full-scale riot is what it was," said Tony Long, mayor of the town of 3,300 about 85 miles west of Montgomery.
Hogue said the rioters were "throwing jack irons, throwing tire irons, anything they could get their hands on." Some people carried baseball bats and brooms.

Of all the people in that picture... the one I’m most scared of is that little girl standing in the second row on the right... ye gods! (she is to the left of the dog on the ground).

In Chicago they would cap you with a bullet..but in Marion you just get swept to death with a broom.
I was told that if you smiled in an early photo, people would think you were simple minded.
Speaking of dogs is that a 3 legged dog in the picture? That sure is a ruff looking bunch in the picture especially the old man with the beard and the shot gun.

8/24/2009 - ALERT: Campus still safe after altercation breaks out in City of Marion
Statement issued from the President’s Office: You may have heard news of an altercation at the Marion City Hall this morning... We have discussed the potential threat to the campus with state and local law enforcement and have been assured of the safety of our students.
The altercation involved two families from the community who became violent after the detention of two family members. A protest erupted at City Hall. Area law enforcement were immediately called and brought the situation under control.
The administration is satisfied that there is no threat to the students and employees of the College. We have asked the students to refrain from visiting the downtown area for 24 hours.

Boy, tough lookin’ bunch. Now there’s individualism. I’d love to see a family of today lined up in a comparison photo....overweight, bare midriffs, glasses, shorts, tattoos, piercings, and holding TV remotes. About the only thing unchanged between the two would be the dogs.
The woman next to him looks creepy.
