Patrick Swayze, the hunky actor who danced his way into viewers' hearts with "Dirty Dancing" and then broke them with "Ghost," died Monday after a battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 57.
"Patrick Swayze passed away peacefully today with family at his side after facing the challenges of his illness for the last 20 months," said a statement released Monday evening by his publicist, Annett Wolf. No other details were given.
Fans of the actor were saddened to learn in March 2008 that Swayze was suffering from a particularly deadly form of cancer.

Sad, very sad. He was a talented actor , musician and entertainer.
I was a fan and he will be missed.
Dalton says, “All you have to do is follow three simple rules. One, never underestimate your opponent. Expect the unexpected. Two, take it outside. Never start anything inside the bar unless it’s absolutely necessary. And three, be nice.”

Has anybody ever known somebody that beat this disease? It seems to be nearly always fatal in a short period.

We'll miss him. He was awesome in his hit t.v. show, The Beast. Wonder if the show will dissolve because of his death.

Sure. It can be beaten. But the odds are against you. It is a particularly nasty and difficult one.

God rest his soul.
My father also died of pancreatic cancer.
Maybe, because I'm a woman, I liked "Dirty Dancing"

God Bless Patrick, a talented man with some morals. He left us too soon.

The odds are GREATLY against you because when it is found it is usually too late.
My father had a tiny ‘paper thin’ cancer on the ‘tail’ of the pancreas. They removed that whole end and he had radiation and chemo.
He fought it for 2 1/2 years. After his death the doctor said it is almost always fatal.

That’s true. It is like ovarian cancer in that respect. No matter how you cut it, it is a terrible cancer.

God Speed. Fare thee well. Patrick.
Liked his movie filmed in Calcutta, called City of Joy.
Brought back memories of India. It was well done.
