We have dobermans. They’re not exactly small, one at 100 pounds and the other 115.

Recently we met a huge (yes HUGH!) black great dane. He was magnificent! Very well behaved and gorgeous. He had white paws and white on his chest.

We spoke with the owner and said we are used to big dogs, and are not often surprised at the size of a dog...but “that’s a big dog!”.

He was awesome. We decided that it wasn’t so much the size of the body that was so much bigger, it was that his legs were a lot longer.

I went to the Irish Festival in Baltimore this weekend - and fell in love with the Irish Wolfhounds.

If only these big dogs lived as long as the little ones! We have had dachshunds that lived to 14 and 15 years of age. It was so hard to lose them. I can’t imagine going throught that with a wolfhound every seven or eight years - but I might just take the plunge.
