ATLANTA A high-profile Atlanta defense attorney said Monday that he's been hired to represent Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger as police investigate a Georgia woman's claim he sexually assaulted her.
Roethlisberger has not been charged. Police said a 20-year-old college student reported the assault after an encounter with Roethlisberger early Friday at a nightclub in central Georgia.
Police in Milledgeville planned a news conference Monday afternoon on the case. Steelers President Art Rooney II said in a statement the team is closely monitoring the situation.
"All of us in the Steelers family are concerned about the recent incident involving Ben Roethlisberger in Georgia," the statement said. "We cannot comment on any of the specifics until law enforcement's investigation is concluded."

There’s a bar here in Tampa where a lot of the sports guys go. Women I know have told me they’ll hear other women plotting in the bathroom to take one of those guys.
Not saying he didn’t do it but he has a huge target painted on his back.
Ben is a good QB, but dumber than a box of rocks otherwise.
He painted that target on his back. I have little sympathy for him. It’s time for him to grow up.
Dumb and immature - a lethal combination.
I think other incidents will come out, including from women he knew when he was in college.

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. The police chief in a Georgia college town says authorities hope to interview Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger in the next several days about a sexual assault accusation against him.
Milledgeville Police Chief Woodrow Blue offered little other new information at a press conference Monday.
Police are investigating a 20-year-old college student's claim that Roethlisberger sexually assaulted her early Friday. He has not been charged.
Blue says police have been talking with Roethlisberger's attorney, Ed Garland, and they expect Garland to arrange for them to speak with the quarterback.
When you lay down with dogs you wake up with fleas.
If she’s telling the truth, I’m sure she has proof right?
Do you think it is meaningful that they have not charged him with anything yet?
No... just taking their time.. being thorough, this is a pretty high profile thing.
There is nothing in Milledgeville. It is definitely NOT a college party town. Athens.....heck yeah. I am shocked this happened in Milledgeville. I can’t even imagine why he would be there unless he was down at Lake Oconee.
Ben owns property in Milledgeville
I don’t know how true this is, but one of our local reports said that the “victim” didn’t know who he was, but she described him perfectly — height, weight and so on. I don’t know about the rest of you, but if someone asked me how tall someone was or how heavy, I wouldn’t know...not with precise certainty. The speculation was that she looked up his statistics somewhere.
Anyway...innocent till proven guilty. All I’m interested in is whether the Steelers will finally unload Charlie Batch.
That is why they(he) should stay as far away from sluts as possible! We know they exist and will ruin someone to get what they want. How do you think Gloria Allred made her millions?!
GCSU is in Milledgeville. And yes, it is known for hot, young, college girls according to my friend’s son who attends Georgia Southern.
And if one has a target painted on his back then why in the hell would he chose to walk in front of the shot gun???? You don’t HAVE to be at a bar to drink or have fun. Since this has happened before and he got away with whatever, the sane thing to do is avoid such places.
Obviously, maturity is not his strong suit. That may be the least of his problems
Add alcohol for the trifecta
then maybe he would be wiser to drink at his own place
