Premieres Coast to Coast with George Noory has been without a New York-market affiliate since Citadels WABC (770) recently went with Doug McIntyres Red Eye Radio for the overnight hours. Now WOR owner Buckley Radio picks up the popular syndicated Coast to Coast and drops its own Joey Reynolds, after 14 years. WOR has also been syndicating Reynolds through its WOR Radio Network, and that will also apparently end after April 2. Reynolds had just recently cracked the Detroit market on WDTW (1310), and Michiguide contributor Art Vuolo writes about the irony of WOR cancelling Reynolds (No More Joey Showey), here:
Too bad. He actually had a good show.
‘bout time. Talk about wasted broadcast time.
Good! Raving liberals.
WKBW.. late at night when I was supposed to be asleep. That was when the AM signal would come in loud and clear, on the transistor radio, all the way to south central PA.
I like Coast to Coast, but Noory’s no conservative.
Art Bell shows were far more intelligent, but he was a Libertarian.
I’d say play Mel’s hole but I think that Washington is anyway.
A friend of mine from college who had a very successful radio career -- technically, he was Rush Limbaugh's boss for a time -- came to Seattle for the convention of the National Association of Broadcasters in 2002. We went to lunch and reminisced about Joey Reynolds. He picked up his cell phone, called a number, and I suddenly found myself talking to Reynolds himself. He and I reminisced about some of the legendary people he worked with in his Hartford years and about his two different stays in Philly.
It was an enjoyable conversation.
Bring back Bob and Ray (sadly, tapes) on O-R !!
...and Gene Shepherd. I’d never get any sleep.
....ooops, I meant Jean Shepherd
yes and IIRC Jean Shepard and his “night people” used to be on WOR as well...

hmm, didn’t see your post at first but I must have ESP :)
I didn’t buy Michael Savage’s Savage Nation book but was leafing through it at a book store and when he mentioned “Shep” he did mis-spell it as “Gene Shepherd” (sic; maybe he did spell it right but an editor may have thought it was a typo?) And of course Jean was not to be confused with
Jean Shepard, a female country singer
You can still listen to Shep. There is simply nobody doing the kind of discussion he used to do. That’s our loss.
Thanks for the link!
This week I learned ...
That Noah's Ark was a submarine -- and Noah did not really take two of every creature on the ark with him (that would've been impractical, with the food and space necessities). Noah just took DNA samples of every plant and animal with him, so that they could be cloned after the flood subsided.
That Anubis wants to rape the Statue of Liberty and invade Indianapolis.
That chemical contrails are being done by the government in order to alter the atmosphere so that the giant Rephaim will be able to breathe when they return.
That the government already has machinery, where if two people put on the electrode caps, one can send his thoughts into the other -- now they are working on methods of thought control without the hardware.
That people are always chasing after wealth because the Ananaki genetically created us to dig for gold as slaves in South Africa!
I'm so glad that my weeks of painful withdrawal are over!!!!!
