Yeah, but unlike pugs who will bark at anything smaller than a interstellar gas could and get itself and its owner into a scuffle, the Basset hound can attempt to remain invisible.

This is very true. Of the 4 bassets I have had, only one would have stuck around for a fight. But he had spent some time on the street before we adopted him, so he had some survival instinct. The others would be so shocked they would roll over and submit.

Now, the chihuahua we have would tussle to his death. I really don’t think he has a brain...
