Priest gets nearly 7 years in prison on child porn charges

Brad Choat Reporting Kmoxnews@kmox.com

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) -- A priest at St. Raphael's Parish in St. Louis is headed to prison on a child pornography possession charge. Prosecutors today announced that 58-year-old James Patrick Grady has been sentenced to 80 months (6.7 years) in prison. He must also pay a 12-thousand-500 dollar fine and be on supervised release for life.

Grady pleaded guilty to the charge in March.

Prosecutors say an undercover officer arrested Grady in July of last year, after Grady set up a meeting with what he thought was a 16-year-old girl willing to have sex with him.

A later search of the priest's personal laptop found more than 100 sexually-explicit images of girls between the ages of seven and seventeen.

Director of the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests (SNAP), David Clohessy says, "Their grateful that the justice system will monitor James Grady for life. Jailed predators is the most effective way to protect kids. Closely supervising child sex offenders is the second best. "

Seven years?
Should be seventy years. The judge should get seven years just for giving out that light-ass sentence.

And to think that this “priest” was hearing confessions and handing out absolution for “other” peoples sins. There are so many levels of sin inside this man that prison is the very, very least of his concerns. Eternity is a really long time.

Agreed! That priest was attempting to screw a teen who should be slutting around with a ‘bro in da hood.

A pox on all who have troubles understanding a certain Commandment, #7, IIRC.

Hmmnnn - speaking of ‘pox’, looks like evolution found a way to put teeth into the Seventh Commandment. Or was that ‘pustules’?

No pit in Hell hot enough for a person who could do such a thing.

Disgusting. This judas priest should be in jail for decades his own transgressions, and as a warning to others. IMHO.

(Since pillory with hands and feet in the stocks is no longer available as a public punishment.)
