I thought phosphates were done away with years ago.

Yeah, I thought phosphate detergents were long gone. It really hurt the black light industry.

They were. In laundry detergent.

I remember my mom complaining bitterly about the lack of cleaning ability in clothes detergents after the ban.

The nurses in the hospital where I used to work switched to washing their uniforms in dishwasher detergent to keep them white. Now I guess that’s gone too, at least in WA.

Except in Dishwasher detergent which needed this extra cleaning power to get food and grease off dishes.
