Well, he did it to prevent panic during WWII. With all going on, think they’d have noticed THAT? Lol.
This really isn’t news since it has been written about many times since WWII.
And it wasn’t covered up because they thought it was little green men from Mars -
it was because they were afraid it was the latest Nazi secret weapon!
And there has been debate for many years as to whether it actually WAS an Nazi secret weapon. From that point there are two story lines - one that it fell into the Russian’s hands, and one that it fell into the Brits hands and we eventually traded them nuclear secrets for it.
Of course they are all just theories.

You’re right, however you usually won’t read or hear about it from MarketWatch which is part of the WSJ in this day and age.
With the buzz-bomb and V-2 attacks on London? Are you kidding? It would have terrified everyone. Winnie did exactly the right thing in order to maintain morale as best he could.

According to the article, the information was listed as classified for 50 years... Then, since no one showed an interested in the (secret)information, it was destroyed.. Don’tcha love the way bureaucrats think???
