How anyone can quote Madison’s “few and defined” powers nonsense without laughing is beyond me.

Can you expand on this thought?

We had a good 140 year run, didn’t we? The 1787 Constitution plus Bill of Rights held up (Okay, less the Civil War) until the FDR Congresses. Downhill since.

The problem is not with the Constitution, but with the people. If the people gave a rip and elected constitutionalists rather than so many “progressives,” we wouldn’t have our current problems.

Madison, Franklin and Hamilton and surely others remarked that our Constitution is only suitable for a virtuous people. No piece of paper can protect our liberties; it is up to us.
