Where to begin on this train wreck of a story?

First of all, meter “maid” implies that the meter attendant was a woman, if you know anything about English, which the ‘journalism major” idiot who wrote this story obviously does not.

Second, the meter guy was probably saying “Schuylkill”, not “scooper”. He sounded to me like a Philadelphia native, and they can be rather, shall we say, abrasive? I almost got into a fist fight on the Philadelphia subway many years ago over some snotty comments directed at my wife’s eighty-something year-old grandfather.

Just who knocked the camera phone out of whose hand? Miss Thang looks to me like she could handle the situation without calling for Hubby. They appear to be grifters looking for an easy lawsuit payout from the city.

Finally, could the city official be more of a weasel?

The same people who feel compelled to get in the left hand lane on the freeway and drive 5 miles under the speed limit. There are those out there that just live to make sure the rest of us "follow the rules." They get off on being the enforcer.

There was some self-righteous AH who wrote a letter to the editor here in NC over the summer, talking about how he took pride in doing this. (I think it was the Jacksonville NC paper)

You should have seen the comments on the webpage and the subsequent letters to the editor. Boy, did they give him a piece of their minds!

A few years ago, some genius at the Utah Dept. of Transportation had the brilliant idea of making up bumper stickers that read “pace car” to give out to the general public for anyone who made a pledge to drive the speed limit or less. Right, just what people want to put on their car, an advertisement that here's the AH who's slowing down traffic. I told Hubby nobody will put one of those on their car, it's just begging to get your car keyed in a parking lot. As predicted, it went over like a lead balloon. I have yet to see one on a car. A few buses have them, but not even the self-righteous road nannies bought into that plan.

He called him a Pennsylvania Schuylkill woodchuck. The Schuylkill River (pronounced SKOOL-kill) runs from Reading down to Philadelphia and empties into the Delaware just north of the airport. What the woodchuck reference means I have no idea...my only guess is that people around here pronounce “water” as WOOD-er, but otherwise the apparent insult is lost on me.
