I’ve been out of that loop for many years now, but a quick perusal of the Spyglass library shows that they are a perfect choice to run MGM as it continues to bumble down the road of failure, inexplicably without ever actually completely failing. I look forward to many high profile embarrassments from the new owners.

"In the meantime, MGM says that...the studio will operate business-as-usual." Lord let's hope not.

Isn’t it MGM/UA? I thought they were merged.
If so that means Tom Cruise’s company is going bankrupt. Guess he isn’t OT9 yet.

It HAS been frustrating, but think about it, when
The Hobbit is finally released, there will be a whole new generation who can then get interested in LOTR! Peter can sell more LOTR DVD sets without also having to spend the money making the movies!
I'll hold out for the "Complete Collection" that will include the Extended Versions of The Hobbit and LOTR. Then I can watch them with the grandkids we don't even have yet! ;o)
