IIRC, The PBS series “Secrets of The Dead” mentioned these skeletons in
England...as well as similarly suspected skeletons in Greece (from
classical times?)
as showing that syphilis was in Europe/England well before Columbus

Syphilis, it seems, developed in the New World from yaws, perhaps 1,600 years ago, and was waiting for Columbus and his crew.
