'The Dark Knight Rises,' aka Batman 3, will not include Riddler as villain

The riddle is over -- sort of.

Christopher Nolan has revealed that his third Batman installment will be titled "The Dark Knight Rises" and that its villain will not be who everyone is expecting.

"It won't be the Riddler," the director told Los Angeles Times' Hero Complex.

Nolan also confirmed that the film will be in high-definition and use IMAX cameras as opposed to 3D.

The fan boy section of the L.A. Times suggested Harvey Dent could return from the dead -- "The Dark Knight’s" title reportedly referred to his fall from grace.

"Rises" may suggest Harvey will re-emerge from his ashes like a phoenix.

"We'll use many of the same characters as we have all along, and we’ll be introducing some new ones," Nolan told the site without elaborating further, though Mr. Freeze has reportedly been dropped from consideration.

No Mr. Freeze, no Riddler...that leaves "a fat midget who wears a monacle" and a "hot chick in tight spandex who dresses as a cat" as options.

I figure its going to be Black Mask as the main villain.

Killer Croc and Clayface wouldn’t work in Nolan movies. Riddler and Mr. Freeze are out already. Penguin and Catwoman are possiblities ... as is the return of Two-Face (his death was ambiguous enough to bring him back since the Joker can’t come back).

I’d rather see Black Mask, Penguin and/or Two-Face. Not a huge Catwoman fan. Then again, Chris Nolan seems to know what he’s doing.

Now, now, now, let's not be hasty. They could dig any one of several 'B-list' villains out of mothballs. Egghead. Bookworm. King Tut. Louie the Lilac. The Sandman. The Clock King. Chandell. The Mad Hatter. Shame. The barrel they can dredge nowadays is virtually bottomless. Which is why I don't go to the movies anymore. And I also watched too much TV as a child. LMAO

"But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: for men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away, for his name is Obama."

Ok, I dont get the hubub about 2-Face. He fell from a 9 story building and “looks” dead. But watching the last 2 DVD’s of Batman with the Black Mask in it (aka Hush), I’d say it’s a good possibility. Yer’ right, Nolan knows what he’s doing but it’s the WRITER, David S Goyer who wrote the past 2 previous movies who should be given his due as well.

I’d love to see Hush in a Nolan movie.
Although I was hoping for Riddler, who is my favorite character.

There have been rumors that they might show a quick shot of the Joker in an insane asylum (can't be Arkham, since it was knocked out in the first movie), possibly through the window of a door, and have his trademark laugh.

As for the main villain, I think it will probably be Black Mask, with the possibility of some C- and D-list villains (Clock King, Clue Master, etc...) serving as his subordinates.

In the rumors leading up to the Dark Knight, I remember a story where Nolan said flat-out he wouldn’t be using the Penguin, expressing a complete lack of interest in the character, completely.

I’m thinking Catwoman, or possibly another villain (Hush hasn’t been done in a movie yet). Or maybe even a whole new character created by the Nolan bros...

When I initially heard that pretty-boy Heath Ledger was slated as the Joker, I rolled my eyes and thought "OMG, puhleeze!"

Then DK premiered and I humbly ate lots of Crow Pie; Nolan & the late Heath Ledger proved me completely wrong.

So, with his recent hit "Inception", I completely put my faith in Nolan to come up with either a twist on a yet-to-be-confirmed established villain, or he & his brother come up with a completely new one. Christopher Nolan is one of the very few directors that I trust.

Maybe they should make it more contemporary.

Make the villian "Obamacare". That kind of evil would really fit well with the dark themes and sets.

There ya go.

Of course, we could switch out Reagan for Obama, and have Batman fight off the gangster crowds of ACORN thugs, and Obama youts (youths) terrorizing Gotham, and then deciding to go after our marxist president, with a misguided Superman defending “the USA” (Obama) despite hating Obama because he knows he’s a marxist. THAT WOULD BE EFFING GREAT. I’d buy the comic, I’d see the movie.

Hush is probably one of the few Batman series other than Batman R.I.P. and Battle for the Cowl that I collected.
