It's just not Thanksgiving without Alice's Restaurant.
You can get anything you want...
No Thanks...
...
I put that envelope under that garbage. ...
The true hero of the song is officer Obie, who was the kindly police officer depicted in a number of Norman Rockwell paintings.
Some good friends used to spend thanksgiving with my family and they brought the album and we listened to it each year. It was a tradition. I still miss them.
Wasn’t Arlo’s old man a lefty like Arlo. Woody’s pal Pete Seeger was a friend of Joe Stalin.
Hilarious seeing Freepers support people who support Stalin. Dumb people.
Yeah, but that’s for tomorrow — iIn four part harmony!
Officer Obie is retired from TSA, you know ;-)
Well it’s just music folks... 99 per of performers today are lefties, so kinda hard not to listen to a few.
I’m not supporting lefties by liking a song...good God!
Thanksgiving Day Massa-cree
Now, I gotta tell you, a couple of years ago Arlo Guthrie was interviewed on national TV. I believe it was by 60 Minutes for a Woodstock anniversary, but I could be wrong about that.
Anyway, Arlo turned out to be very conservative in his responses! No way a liberal. It surprised the interviewer, and it sure surprised me.
Yeah, once heard Seeger say that Woodie Guthrie was a communist. Makes sense when you listen to “This Land is Your Land” or whatever the title is to that one.
You're supporting commies! To the cornfield with you troll!
Thanks for a classic. Here’s another....Clear vocals, with illustrations

"Country Joe," who sang, "one two three, what the hell we fighting for, don't ask me I don't give a damn, next stop is Viet Nam..." was invited to perform in Viet Nam during a celebration of the anniversary of America's withdrawal. He declined and explained that Vietnamese citizens cannot protest against the North Vietnamese the way he protested against his own government.
I prefer Mel's.
"Stow it !"
Thanks for posting.
An FM station locally used to run it on Thanksgiving Day at 12 noon. Changed its format some years ago and haven’t heard it since. It was my late brothers favorite for the holiday. Brought back good memories.
Saw the movie where I was stationed overseas.
What song is that?
