Bank policy: No Christmas trees
ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Wachovia Bank won't be putting up Christmas trees in their banks this Christmas. FOX 35 news received a call from someone upset after hearing about this policy and we went to check it out. Customer Wilhelmina Cox says, "To be honest with you, that kinda offends me. I might think about changing banks."
We asked Wachovia's corporate office for a statement on why no trees. They sent us this statement, "At Wachovia, we respect the diversity of our customers and team members therefore we are decorating our stores with poinsettia plants so that everyone can be included."
A corporate spokesperson told FOX35 News they don't put up Christmas trees so as not to offend their non-Christian customers.
I’m allergic to pointsettas. Who can I sue?
offend the majority to appease the minority?
Mom MD: No Wachovia bank products - EVER in the mom household. They might offend ME
No problem though offending all Christians. So much for the diversity nonsense...
Time for a new bank.
Wachovia is Wells Fargo NOW here in Texas. I thought they went out of business?
I thought banks didn’t want customers inside the branches any more. Don’t some of them charge extra to do transactions face-to-face that you could have accomplished at the ATM or by computer?
Wachovia is slowly being phased out by their masters, Wells Fargo. Boycotting them is fairly meaningless since they won’t exist soon (already gone in Georgia).
I Googled ‘Wells Fargo Christmas Tree’ and they sponsored tree lightings all over the country.
Backfired. They don’t want to risk offending so they adopt a no tree policy that I find very offensive. Well done!
Wachovia is a den of thieves and moral punks. This does not surprise me.
I did some consulting work for Wachovia about 6 years ago and they stiffed me on the bill ($100,000). I just couldn’t penetrate their wall of attorneys. I took them to court and finally got it back.
I have not seen anyone offend by Christmas trees, but I have seen them offended by the lack of Christmas Trees. Christmas is so commercialized now anyways that it is just a marketing ploy by companies instead of a time to celebrate Christ’s birth.
LOL! Good. I was gonna yank an account from these corrupt clowns anway. Wells Fargo owns Wachovia and slimy Warren Buffet - Obama’s friend is a major shareholder in the Wells.
Poinsettias? Ah, you mean Flores de Nocha Buena or Flowers of the Holy Night. The shape is representative of the Star of Bethlehem, the red is representative of the Blood of Christ and the white represents His purity. Thank you Wachovia, you’ve outsmarted yourselves.
Not surprising. They are a bunch of a-holes.
Growing up here in NC where they are headquartered, a lot of people called them “Walk-All-Over-Ya” instead of Wachovia. ;)
You cannot ever avoid offending people, the idea is to make sure to offend the right people.
Ask ‘em if they’re going to be open on Christmas Day.
And exactly what do Christmas trees have to do with Christianity?
A few years ago,we were preparing a liquor store I once worked at for the Christmas season, and the owner called up,(of course he called...he couldn’t lower himself to actually come to the store and be with us “little people”),and said not to “over-do” the Christmas “angle”,so as not to “offend” non-Christians.
After 9/11,he again called and told us to stay open later, because people would be “depressed and want to drink more and we could REALLY make some money”.(A real “sensitive” guy, wasn’t he?).
Again, after 9/11,we had put up a small 8 x 11 “God Bless America” sign behind the registers. It only took one pain-in-the-*ss to complain to him that the sign “offended” him for him to take it down.
Guess who’s out of business now?
My religion -- Cthuluism -- HATES poinsettias.
They are OFFENSIVE.
