I was at Ft. Lewis in ‘75-’76. :-) Enlisted. 54th Med Det (Hel Amb). Then-husband was in 9th Avn Btn. We were a couple of avionics mechanics. I love that place.

So, do you remember Volney Warner and his determined approach to military drill and fitness then? I laughed my head off seeing guys that hadn’t seen the front side of a desk in nigh on 15 years trying to run two miles per day.

Going between North Fort and McChord when the Huey pilots were practicing was really interesting, though. Some guys were, well, in need of a lot of practice.

On the other hand, I never could tell the difference between Div Arty night firing and earthquakes. We had plenty of both, though.

I ate my first and only sea snail while there, probably in some little Vietnamese restaurant in Spanaway or something. At a restaurant. I thought it was going to come out my nose, it was so bad. One of the worst things to eat on the face of the earth.

Do you remeber the name of the head shop with the monkey? That place was like no other store I have ever been in, and that’s saying something.
