Kohls sells clothing to fit an 18" doll, along with a matching outfit for the girl to wear. Nightgowns seem to be the most popular of these. Only, it seems someone forgot to set the dye! Perspiration from little hands causes the dye to bleed, where it then stains everything those little hands touch.
(I work for a doll company, and we've been getting a lot of calls from people whose brand-new dolls are now ruined. Not to mention their sofa, carpet, wallpaper, etc, etc)
Further details as they become available.
Baby oil seems to work for removing the dye from the child, but last I heard no one knew any way to remove the dye from other surfaces. Replacing the stained items could make for an expensive nightie!
Just wanted to let FReepers know.
That sounds like it could be a mess
Kohl’s is an overpriced crap store owned by the liberal Democrat Kohl family. Their crap is laughably overpriced.
which is why I only shop there if the prices are cut by 50% or more. They used to give military discounts, but quit last year.
F, do they even have a Kohl’s in Iceland? If they don’t, when was the last time you were in one?
not since 79
Kohls is publicly traded KSS on NYSE
Heard that if you soak new clothes in cold salt water it would “set the dye”.
Anyone know for sure?
And God only know what kind of toxins are in those dyes.
Yuck.
And if the “dye” was from China it’s probably toxic.
I don’t know when you were last in a Kohl’s but to call it overpriced is dead wrong. It’s good stuff and, particularly in regards to clothing, sold at a better than fair price.
Which is EXACTLY why I don't shop there for anything, ever.
Yes...don’t let reality get in the way of your shopping habits.
I went into Kohl’s for the first time Friday and everything I looked at was over priced. I don’t plan on going back.
I've stopped letting politics influence my shopping habits (well, don't use Costco any more) since it it almost impossible to keep up.
Good for you!
I used to keep a list of “FR Approved” shopping venues.
We finally got down to the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Stores as the only listing.
Then somebody posted an anti-Catholic screed and we were down to zero.
Like I said, good for you!
That is true. Typically it takes several hours - 3 or so.
Depends on the fiber content. Cold salt water will help with plant fiber based fabrics. With animal fibers like wool, vinegar should be used instead of salt.
Polyesters and acrylics should be bleeding at all and nothing can set the color in those fibers if it wasn’t done properly in the first place, it takes more than kitchen chemistry.
No way could those garments be sewn without the bleeding problem being noticed, so Kohl’s has been ripped off by the supplier of these sub-par products.
All that matters is dumping Mr. Kohl in Nov. 2012.
Kohl’s carries the name only, it is not owned by the Kohl family.
While Kohl’s isn’t a family owned business, Herb Kohl has a sizable interest in BATUS.
Don’t like the stuff they sell at Kohl’s any more than I like the stuff that Target sells.
