**VANITY** PLEASE RECOMMEND FUN .223 RIFLE **VANITY**

I've been intrigued by the Appleseed Project and I would like to take part in some of their shooting events, as well as other recreational shooting events. Most events require 400-500 rounds for weekend participation. The ammo for my current rifles would cost nearly a dollar per round. I've done some checking at Cheaper than Dirt and ammo for .223 rifles would be only $250 or so, a much more manageable cost.

I would like to get FReeper recommendations for fun-to-shoot rifles in the .223/5.56 that would be suitable for the Appleseed Project and practical for training purposes.

Also, does anyone know of a carbine conversion kit for a S&W Model 622 pistol, .22LR? Something similar to this Beretta?

Rock River Arms.

Pricey but they guarantee .05 MOA.

Go to www.classicarms.us and check out item #RPG-AR-15-LE-M4 $699.95. This is 5.56/.233 made by RockPoint Guns. A good deal. But also the RPG AR-15 Urban Tactical for $799.95 also by Rockpoint. They are a new Company from NC made in the US of A. Adjustable stock, tri-pod, removable handle, or you can leave the handle on for open sights which is what you will need at Appleseed. Happy Shooting.

LOL! I’m laughing at your tagline. Thanks for the tip on the ARs. I’m enjoying looking at all the websites everyone’s recommended. I can’t wait to go shopping!

Do a search for "Kel-Tec SU-16 review" on youtube.

Lots of info.

S$W M&P in 5.45x39

http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/55424

Remember, this ammo(AK 74) is 1/2 the price of .223 with similar ballistics. (Looks like the price is up about $25 a case)

As a collector type, I also enjoy the foreign battlefield rifles.

Thanks for the tip. For some reason, when I hear Kel-Tec, I think of K-Tel Records. Sorry. I’ll look up the rifle. Others have recommended.

Thanks for the info on the less expensive ammo. It’s half the cost of the .223.

I have a penchant for all the variants LoL

Still need and 8mm yugo M76

Love my VEPR .308, but the walnut stocks have cracked a couple times and there is no surplus. Good thing I am handy with wood.

Tonight’s project, is fitting walnut G3 stock to the C93 just for giggles

I am surprised, that the S&W M&P is not more reasonably priced in 5.45x39. a lot of guys find it a desirable caliber due to price and ballistics that are on par with .223

One of the freepers just picked up a new M&P a couple months ago in .223(5.56x45) for $650

I have the M76 8mm, a CA TIGR 7.62x54, PSL 7.62x54 and a Chinese NDM86 .308. I have the parts to build a Iraqi Tubuk 7.62x39; need to get to that.

Hey! K tel had some groovy records baby!

Actually Kel Tec is well respected for its innovation and particularly their CCW pistols.

I have heard great things about their rifles and carbines, though they feel somewhat flimsy to me.

Still, the Kel Tec SU 16 would be an excellent survival rifle if it was robust enough.
Light, powerful and compact.

How in the eff did you get the tabuk?
I want a Kadiseah. Also a Tariq pistol

How do you find the M76 for accuracy? Is it worth it?

Also, I am kicking myself in the rear for letting a 30 round 8mm Hakim go a few years ago that was marked $375.

I would snap a Rasheed up in a moment.

Classic arms has the Czech VZ59 with wood stocks now for $379

Never saw wood before but I have never seen them below $800 either.

I’m also a member at http://www.theakforum.net/phpBB3/index.php?sid=1dd2becfd2ef98f38153686746d18efd

I don’t post much there. They did a group buy on parts. Nodak supplied the receivers. Copes had Green Mountain build the long barrels. We used Yugo parts kits and Ironwood built the stock sets.

If you can still get a barrel from Copes or Apex you could build one or have it built for you.

The hard part to find is the clamp on cheek rest from a Dragunov.

You might try what I did with a Universal m1Carbine after I rebuilt the bolt using heat treated Iver Johnson parts. I cu tthe shoulder stock off at the grip, then used a hole saw to cut a place to slip in a collapsible Plastic stock. Works great and looks good after I painted it all black and put the action back in. Out to 200 yards, it’s quite accurate ... scoped of course, my old eyes don’t see things well that far off.
