Teen Survives Plunge Off Golden Gate Bridge

A California high school student visiting the Golden Gate Bridge on a field trip climbed over a railing, jumped — possibly on a dare by fellow classmates — and somehow survived the 220-foot plunge into San Francisco Bay that kills dozens of people each year.

Yes, I'm sure it was a “dare”. Although, anything a kid educated by our public system will do these days doesn't really surprise me.

Seriously, too many parents think it is okay to leave teens on their own for overnight or a weekend, this is an example of teens just doing stupid things and not thinking of consequences.......they do need adult supervision....

I read a story once that detailed the injuries sustained by the bodies of Golden Gate jumpers. Not a pretty sight. Since hitting water from that height is almost like hitting concrete, that anyone could survive that is no small miracle.

I bet if you point your toes and hit the water fully perpendicular, your chances of swimming away are decent. Then it’s just the hypothermia you have to worry about.
