"walked six and struck out two"
That's one of the luckier nonos I've heard of in awhile.
Congrats nevertheless.

“Is Obama gonna take credit for that too?”
Maybe he directed Chicago not to offer any resistance.

Andy Hawkins of the Yankees pitched a "no-hitter" back in 1990 in a game he lost by a 4-0 score on several walks and a couple of huge errors. Major League Baseball ended up taking the no-hitter away from him some years later when they went back and purged the record books of any no-hitters where the pitcher didn't pitch a full nine-inning game.
Most of those purged from the record books were rain-shortened games. Hawkins lost his because the Yankees were the visiting team that game, and their opponent didn't have to bat in the ninth inning. LOL.

That's one of the luckier nonos I've heard of in awhile. Was bailed out by great defense and double plays all game long.
First thing the Twins have done well all season. They have been positively putrid.

Remember last year when that Tigers’ pitcher threw a complete game only to see the umpire completely blow the call?
To: Hunton Peck
I’m a Twins fan, but I have to admit that was a bad call in the 8th, and he should have given up at least one hit.

It was a bad call, but should’ve been scored as an error, not a hit.

Oh, yeah. That was downright tragic — well, in sports terms, anyway.

Edwin Jackson, Liriano’s counterpart tonight, walked eight batters, struck out six and threw almost 150 pitches during his no-hitter against the Rays last year.
To: Hunton Peck
"Liriano had an ERA of 9.13 amd a 1-4 record coming into this game. " Yep, he has been having a downright horrible year. And I heard rumors that his place as a starter was in jeopardy coming into tonight's game. Couldn't have come a better time for him.
Now if he and the rest of the team could build a little consistency on this win there may be hope.
