What is it that we want in our 2012 candidate?

Rather than discussing which candidates we all prefer or oppose for next year's election, I thought it might be nice to send a message to the politicians about the issues and qualities we're looking for. Feel free to add/amend/critique/tweak, etc.

Here's my dream list for the 2012 nominee:

Domestically:

• Strong on enforcing existing immigration laws

• Strong on making examples of drug runners

• Strongly opposed to any form of amnesty

• Strongly in favor of domestic energy production and a streamlined process

• Willing to cut the budgets of some ‘sacred cow’ programs to reduce the deficit

• Willing to fast-track new nuclear power plants in non-earthquake-prone areas

• Strongly in favor of equal application of justice for all Americans

• Opposed to abortion and willing to sign bills into law that reduce the number of them

• Strong on cracking down on gangs

• Vehemently opposed to union thuggery

• Strong on prosecuting voter fraud, including campaign donation irregularities

• Vocally pro-English language (we all hate to have to “press 1”)

Internationally:

• Big on pushing for American exports and a more balanced trade with China

• All foreign aid must be earned by recipient nation and not simply given

• U.S. out of U.N. and U.N. out of U.S.

• Strong on retaliating against terrorists

• Pro-Israel

• Pro-Taiwan independence

• Willing to use any and all military power if needed -- Nothing is off the table

Personally:

• Honest

• Conservative

• Dignified

• Humble

• Willing to call the media out on their biases and smack them down as needed

• Open about his/her past, no sealing of the personal history and education

• Opposes different standards for different races/religions

• Has actually worked a real job in the real world (prefer they’ve run a successful business)

I want someone who can fill a football stadium for one of her rallies, any day of the week.

I’m sure any candidate that is in the running, will happily promise all those things for your vote.

Some good stuff so far. Thanks to all. Yes, elimination of unneeded and/or duplicative agencies would be a good thing to start on right away.

Auditing the fed, too.

Strong on cutting out fraud and abuse in all government entitlement programs, and getting cheaters and illegals off the rolls.

Balls enough to call for a hold on all immigration from Muslim countries and an end to the State Department’s issuance of “Diversity Visas.” We don’t need more diversity. We need a single American culture based on the best that we all have to offer.

Hopefully I heard wrong but didn’t Herman Cain say that there was no reason to audit the Fed?

100% un failing past support of and continued of EVERY one of those issues.

Or It’s better to let the DNC have the ball with Obama.

Because it’s a one down, one game, season with no future seasons.

You heard mostly wrong, one of his statements is being taken somewhat out of context. He actually did make some pretty strong statements in favor of getting it in line here:

Three legs of the Conservative stool-

Social-
Be strongly pro life. It is the defining issue of individual liberty. Leaving it up to the States is not an option (although going the State route is a strategy) as State’s rights can’t supersede individual rights.

Economic-
Move toward government limited to its role defined by the Constitution. This would result in budgets being slashed greatly, bringing us in balance. Support of a simplified tax system such as the fair tax or flat tax is a plus. Avoid class warfare jargon. Strong on domestic energy production. Keep us from being held hostage by other nations.

Defense-
The primary role of the President is Commander in Chief of the US Armed Forces and defense is the primary role of the Federal government as outlined by the Constitution. This includes defense along our borders as well as having a realistic outlook on our foreign enemies. Take the fight to them if necessary. None of this ‘the US can be defended by one submarine’ crap.

Absolutely. Following the Constitution with the Framers’ intent is a must-have. Thank you.
