What if Romney Wins the GOP Nomination for President in 2012?

A visit to a therapist might be necessary to help conservatives work through their issues with the current frontrunner.

What if Mitt Romney wins the Republican nomination for president in 2012?

A vast majority of conservatives become anxiety-ridden at the mere posing of this question, and many go ballistic at the thought of it actually happening.

So a quick visit to a therapist may be helpful.

Imagine yourself lying on a couch in the spring of 2012 with soothing music playing in the background. News breaks that former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney has clinched the Republican nomination for president.

Your therapist, knowing that as a true conservative you worked against Romney by supporting (fill in the blank), asks in a soft comforting voice, “How does this news make you feel — angry, betrayed, confused?”

Intrade also pegs Obama’s re-election prospects at 58.6%, but your therapist says she will address those negative feelings in a future session.

This hour she wants you to work through the stress associated with accepting Romney as the GOP nominee.

So in an empathetic tone she asks you to think about the following questions:

Are you going to pick up your signs for Candidate X and go home?

Could you work for and support Romney’s campaign?

Will you vote for Romney in the 2012 election?

What if the polls show that Romney is running neck and neck with Obama?

Do you resent that squishy independent swing vote that is fueling Romney?

Finally, the therapy session is over and you leave her office with a huge headache. You realize you would have real problems supporting Romney as the nominee and even imagining these questions makes you angry.

Can you relate to this scenario?

[You, quoting the Wall Street Journal]: A new survey released yesterday by the Massachusetts Medical Society reveals that fewer than half of the state’s primary care practices are accepting new patients, down from 70% in 2007, before former Governor Mitt Romney’s health-care plan came online. The average wait time for a routine checkup with an internist is 48 days. It takes 43 days to secure an appointment with a gastroenterologist for chronic heartburn, up from 36 last year, and 41 days to see an OB/GYN, up from 34 last year.........

I was planning to post those statistics about the effects of RomneyCare, but you beat me to it. It also shows what we can expect from ObamaCare.

No way.

Romney is no better than Obama on most key issues, and it will destroy any opposition by co-opting the Republican party (more so than they already are) into going along with it.

That’s ONLY if he’s the nominee. What choice will we have? We always seem to be finding ourselves in this same dilemma.

He will not accomplish much (Establishment RINO /Status Quo v-2.0). In fact, I will argue the point that he will ‘set the table’ (much like GB2) for another ‘socialist’ to seduce the 20% in 2016.

Without hesitation, I’d vote for him—he’s a hell of a lot better than Obama.

Which brand of progressive do I want in the WH? I would vote for Romney without hope that anything beyond a delay in our destruction would result. Mitt is a crony capitalist lover but less open about his agenda.

If this happens, only a large amount of whiskey could help before we go into the voting booth........

Given the choice between Olympia Snowe and Romney I ALMOST think I would vote for Snowe. Why, with her you KNOW you’re going to get screwed over. With Romney he will keep you guessing just long enough to get you in position to stab you in the back!

Romney’s a statist. When confronted with one of the most important questions of the day, allowing the state to assume control of health care, he chose the state over liberty.

Romney’s dead to me.

I’ll never vote for another RINO again....those of you saying they are better than democrats are deluded.

Until the Republican party learns to nominate a real conservative candidate and not some Dole, Bush, McCain retread I won’t support it. I vote based upon principle and will not support democrat-lites any longer.

We are so much ‘in the hole’ now, that we need ‘new thinking’ to implement ‘new methods and changes, AND... someone with the DESIRE and ABILITY to ‘FIGHT’ for this ‘new thinking’.

You can’t go by what the candidates “say”, because they will say ‘anything’ to get elected. You have to go by whatever track-record they have to DEMONSTRATE what they say.

Do any of these individual’s RECORD then DEMONSTRATE this “FIGHTING” resolve..??

Or are they more a product of their ‘establishment’ political life:

- BACHMANN
- CAIN
- GINGRICH
- HUCKABEE
- PALIN
- PAUL
- PAWLENTY
- SANTORUM
- ROMNEY

Vote Third Party and Obama will have his 2nd term and America will change forever. And you had better learn to love your Single Payer Health care and new Hispanic neighbors.

As much as I don’t like Romney, I would vote for him. Then I would go home and puke! (I hope I made it home before)

Why??? Will Romney's single payer health care be better than Obama's??? America has changed...And it will change forever if we don't elect a patriotic conservative, of any party...

Obviously you guys didn't learn anything last time...If Mitt wins, Obama wins and it will be your fault, not mine...You apparently don't care who you vote for as long as it's not Obama...So vote conservative, any party...

If Barney Frank ran and won the Republican primary, would you vote for him instead of Obama???
