Michele Obama thinks shes putting on a non-political, fun filled poetry event this Wednesday night, but in reality, its quite controversial and, quite possibly, disgusting.
Madame First Lady has invited Chicago poet and rapper, Lonnie Rashid Lynn, Jr., AKA Common, to the White House poetry event.
While the name Common doesnt induce a vulgar tone, his poetry does. Lynns poetry includes threats to shoot police officers and at least one passage calling for the burn[ing] of former President George W. Bush.
Lynns poem, A Letter to the Law, includes the following:
Seeing a fiend being hung
With that happening, why they messing with Saddam?
Burn a Bush cos for peace he no push no button
Killing over oil and grease
no weapons of destruction
How can we follow a leader when this a corrupt one
The governments a g-unit and they might buck young black people
Black people in the urban area one
I hold up a peace sign, but I carry a gun.
Peace, yall.
Is this the kind of poetry that the First Lady wants American kids to read?
Back In 2000, Lynn released an album that included the song, "A Song for Assata," in which he portrayed Shakur. Shakur was convicted in the 1973 murder of New Jersey state trooper Werner Foerster. She escaped prison six years later and is now living under political asylum in Cuba. His song reads, Your power and pride is beautiful, may god bless your soul!

God O Mighty! Is this the way that our first lady should act? No class.... Just as$...
They are both low class. They are termites in the WH.
I’ve nver considered poetry to be a fun-filled event.. hey. maybe it’s just me.
I love poetry, but these people were invited for political reasons and not for their work.
Billy Collins is actually a good poet; however, he is a raving leftist who also spent some time writing screeds against George Bush (even though he was named Poet Laureate by Bush, IIRC), and is utterly devoted to Bambi. Rita Dove is, frankly, lousy and if she weren’t a politically correct black academic who writes poems about her private parts would never have been noticed in the world (or been named Poet Laureate by Clinton). Most of the other “poets” seem to have been people who are professionally black; that is, they have made a profession out of the color of their skin.
Calling that poetry is like calling bird poop on a car a hood ornament.
” I once thought that Michele My Belle was smart”
One key clue to me that she wasn’t was during the nomination process when she never recognized her mother , even though she was in the audience.
No common decency
Told me a lot about it’s all about her, and what she can get, or what she wants - she wants - and no one should stand in the way.
