Give a look at Herman Cain. Straight shooting, non politician with good ideas and business experience.

I believe the poster meant to imply the Executive BRANCH... of government. Cain's executive experience is his success in the business world.

One thought I've had quite often is that we have to much of the "CEO mindset" in Congress, where increasing revenues is a (if not THE) primary focus. That's great in the business world, and entirely appropriate, but in Congress, it is seriously misplaced.

Obama had zero name recognition when the primaries began, too

1. Obama had the entire force of the media with him. Once he announced, he got their full support and attention.
Cain has announced and still no attention

Nobody knew that attractive and energizing woman from Alaska before McCain picked her for the VP slot.

2. You just made my case for me...Palin was picked for the VP slot to an already well known candidate.
There is no comparision to these situations. Apples and oranges.

I don’t get the “waiting” part.

Cain and/or West would be great.

But then, so would Palin or Bachmann, and MAYBE Christie.

“Petraues? What qualifies him? Military experience?”

Damn right! The man shows leadership, character and the ability to make good decisions.

Please tell us what you think “qualifies” someone.

Governorship? Clinton? Carter?

Please click below to get Herman Cain's take on TARP (can't post due to copyright restrictions):

This question was asked yesterday and his response was he believed that Tarp had to be done to save us from catostrophic economic decline. He stood by that article. What he didn't like was the way TARP was implemented. I agree.Had they done it with preferred stock rather than just handing the banks the money, we'd be in much better shape.

So just because he did it then Petrause should be able to? God help us then. I guess since Obama, the community organizer, did it then ANYBODY can.

Dont get me wrong, IF Cain was to win the nomination then he would get my vote. All I am saying is we have a HUGE hill to climb to beat Obama, whether you admit it or not, then why start FURTHER in the hole with a candidate that hasno experience in a political office and has zero foreign policy experience. Your playing into the liberals hands.

You don't go from losing your only HS game to being the starting QB in the Super Bowl.

Zer0 went from voting "present" to Pres__ent in the White House in practically one move.

his response was he believed that Tarp had to be done to save us from catostrophic economic decline. He stood by that article.

This translates to me as "I was taken in back in 2008, and I don't want to admit it".

The boogey-man threats of "catastrophic economic decline" were just so much B.S., designed to coverup a bailout of several large investment firms, enabling them to evade the marketplace consequences of their own incompetence.

Now if Cain says, "Yes, I was wrong, and I won't let myself be fooled again", I'll consider it a strong point in his favor.

“............... and when did people on FR become so nasty?”

Unfortunately some people believe that blunt/tackless speaking/posting is proof positive of their “conservative credentials.”

Never occurs to them that Ronald Reagan was gracious and kind in all of his interactions, and that being hard core nasty just goes to reinforces the left’s charactorization of the right to the majority of our fellow citizens that are not political junkies......

A real “Big C” Conservative can, and does make his/her case in a well reasoned, civil manner. You don’t have to act like a jerk to make your point, and, in fact, doing so detracts from what otherwise is a winning message.

Mostly I think that people that behave in a disrespectful manner, especially to their fellow conservatives, have deeply seated personal problems/frustrations. There is no need to be one of the phony tough either in real life or as a FReeper cyber world Conservative.

Under the 2011 budget, every hour of every day, the United States government spends $188 million it doesn’t have & $130 million of which is ‘borrowed’ from itself. I’m open to voting for anybody who has a plan to reverse these suicidal economic trends.
