It confirmed it alright, it confirms that the nature of Dark Energy and Matter is magically whatever is needed to make the equation work.

Wasn't dark matter proposed because the universe was continuing to expand and they couldn't account for the energy or mass?

So either dark matter is real or it's a fudge factor so the equations balance out.

Dark Matter was proposed because stars at the outer part of a galaxy travel at the same speed as stars in the inner part. They expected to find that as you got farther away from the center of a galaxy the slower speeds stars would go around in their orbits, like in the solar system where Pluto travels more slowly around the sun than Earth.

Dark Energy was proposed because galaxies are apparently not only expanding away from each other but that expansion is accelerating.

Personally, to me it looks like we just don't understand how gravity works on the galactic level (and above) and Dark M&E are just shoehorned in there to fill in our gaps of knowledge.
