It’s official: TNT is bringing back Dallas, and with original series stars Larry Hagman, Patrick Duffy and Linda Gray.

The 1980s hit will get a modern makeover on the cable network, which just gave its new version of Dallas a 10-episode series order (full official description below). But you don’t have to wait until next summer, when the series debuts, to get a look at the show: TNT will give viewers a preview of the pilot on Monday night during the season premieres of The Closer and Rizzoli & Isles.

“TNT has explored the possibility of an updated version of Dallas for several years, but it wasn’t until we read Cynthia Cidre’s outstanding pilot script that we knew we had the foundation for a great new series,” said Michael Wright head of programming for TNT. “It is incredibly exciting to see both new and familiar characters in the hands of a dream cast.”

Here’s the description of the show from when the network announced the pilot:

The original Dallas aired from 1978 to 1991 and centered on the Ewing family, a cattle and oil dynasty occupying the expansive Southfork Ranch in Texas. The new version will focus

I’ll wait. I can take The Closer if I am in the mood, but “2 lesbians who make no sense” is more than I can handle.

I wonder what kind of creative stories the writers will come up with to demonize the oil industry.

Not going to be the OIL industry...

It will be the solar and wind power industry.

JR will be gay with an Italian boyfriend.

The big laughs will come when they try to drive their Chevy Volt to Waco from Dallas.

To keep it real I think Dallas County Commissioner John Wiley Price needs a cameo role. ‘No Justice, No Peace’.
He’d bring lots of material and buffoonish antics to the set.

Heck, let’s just go back and redo “My Mom The Car.” while we’re at it.

If I was in school for the film industry, I’d be insulted. Instead of coming up with something new, they are they “redoing” too many things.

Get some imagination for pete’s sake.

TV havent had a orignal idea since the 1990s.
Good Tv shows like Firefly, Jericho and Space:Above and beyond that had a spark of freshness were snuffed out early while they trot out Reality shows by the boxcar.
That is why DVDs rule.
