Child Attacked by 3 Pit Bulls
PORTSMOUTH -- A 14-month-old girl brutally attacked by three pit bulls at her grandmothers home Tuesday is now marked by stitches all over her body.
On the day the attack happened, the brutalized toddler was rushed from Portsmouth to Nationwide Childrens Hospital in Columbus for extensive medical attention.
Kahtauna Cook suffered bad bites across her face, left arm and other parts of her body. The dogs that hurt little Cook belong to her paternal grandparents.
"The dog jumped over, grabbed her, pulled her back over and that's when the other two dogs started attacking," Cooks mother, Janet Jones, said.
They were visiting the grandparents when their three dogs attacked the child. Jones immediately tried to break up the dogs and save her daughter.
"When I leaned down to grab his collar, the other dog grabbed me in the face!," Jones said.
"I was scared to death. I thought they killed her. That's what I thought!"
As of Wednesday, the three dogs -- named Hitler, Moo Moo and Tater -- remained with the Scioto County Animal Control. Jones says their owner is upset about it, too.
She cares more about her dogs than her babies.
Jones says the Scioto County dog warden came to Nationwide CHidlrens [sic] to see her little girl Tuesday night.
When she come up to the hospital, seen the baby, she started crying!
The dogs owner is due in court on Thursday. Jones says she wants all three dogs put down.
If not, they're gonna end up biting somebody else!
Jones says she optimistic about her baby recovering from the physical and emotional trauma caused by the attack.
She's gonna be fine. Me? Im fine . Ill be much better when the dogs get put down.
“Kahtauna”? Poor little child.
My grandparents had a lazy old bird dog that would lie in the shade all day long, unless it saw a pigeon or quail. Our greyhound seems like a vigorous and lively pet, in comparison.
