Some Initial Palin Thoughts
10/6/2011 | vanity

Posted on 10/06/2011 5:18:21 PM PDT by CondoleezzaProtege

I have more to say, but for now:

I do not believe this (her ultimate decision) was something she went back and forth over constantly in the past few months or years. I believe that not only did she leave the governorship of Alaska with 2012 and the US presidency in mind--but she left McCain's concession stage the night Barack Obama was elected in '08, with 2012 and the US Presidency in her sights.

I believe there was careful strategy behind the timing of her book releases, their content, and the way they were written and the way they ended. There was *political* strategy behind choosing to go on Oprah to do her first interview following her resignation--and to meet with Barbara Walters shortly thereafter. I do not believe she chose to go on Conan O'Brien and Jay Leno's return to The Tonight Show episode just because she "loves" being a celebrity. I believe all of it was political and part of her efforts to appear before the masses unfiltered and real. AKA: she was campaigning.

I believe there was strategic considerations about her personal political future behind her decision to become a Fox commentator and her efforts to revamp her media image. Same goes for her decision to invite cameras into her home for "Sarah Palin's Alaska" and I'm sure she even saw the hidden political benefit of having Bristol Palin win the minds and hearts of the public on "Dancing With the Stars."

I believe she changed her foreign policy advisors early this year in light of her presidential aspirations. I believe she went to Israel, India, and Haiti (Sudan was cancelled) and Korea (which she is scheduled to visit next week) with the US presidency in mind.

I believe her decision to release "The Undefeated" in Iowa and key voting states had electoral considerations in mind. I believe every SarahPAC YouTube video screamed "will be running soon, watch out." Her bus tour, her facebook notes touting her record, and her retweets which linked to her most key supporters and supporting organizations like Conservatives4Palin and TammyBruce were intended to encourage site viewers to see her in the context of a potential candidacy.

I believe all her speeches in Iowa and New Hampshire in early September were serving as very BLATANT precursors to her running: touting her experience fighting crony capitalism in Alaska, talking about "HER plan" for the country, etc...etc...

I believe that up until even two weeks ago: she had the fire in her belly. She is a fierce competitor with unlimited energy.

I believe she is confident in her ability to beat Barack Obama and run a fantastic, history-making campaign that breaks all expectations and conventions.

EVEN TINA FEY parodied Palin's "2012 aspirations" on one of her final appearances on SNL the end of the last election cycle. All of Palin's most vociferous haters and denyers, were deep down, expecting Sarah Palin to run...

Which is why, I believe:

Her decision to not run was a very carefully thought out--but last minute decision she's made over the past two weeks at the MOST. I know the lives and safety of her children were of utmost consideration and that there were several recent issues that must have initiated severe worry.

But ultimately, I believe there is more to it that she won't ever say. There is so much that we don't know--about the inner workings of the GOP, for example, that we simply are not a part of and will never see. But I do believe there were things that happened or that she has learned of in these past few DAYS that ultimately led to her final breaking point decision...Something dramatic and sudden, and something more political in nature--than having to do with family.

That's just my guess.

Ultimately, I believe this was simply GOD's way of telling America: at this point, you're not deserving or worthy of a godly leader. You blew it.

That's what my next post will be about.

I know all of this makes it sounds as if I believe Palin puts her own ambitions first the whole time, but I believe she wanted to lead out of a servant's heart and because of the visionary "big picture" perspective she has about the future of this country--its potential and even the future of the world. (Her speech in India was absolutely brilliant and so far ranging in its nature.) I do not believe she is motivated by the same breed of ambition held by that of perpetual candidates like Mitt Romney who just want a title. And no, quit it with all the pathetic attempts to make her out to be some materialistic sell out celebrity. *rolleyes* Palin is a person gifted and destined for greatness should GOD hit the "Go" button.

I feel 100% sure that she really wanted to run, and will feel pangs of discomfort about her decision--even though it was probably the right one to make. She knows more than any of us how pathetic our current field of candidates are--hence why she constantly reminds us that she's focused on House seats, Senate seats, and not just putting all the cards on expecting change to come out of the Presidency.

Who knows what the LORD has in store for her and our country next--but all I know is, it's OUR loss, this NATION's loss, this WORLD's loss--not her's...and all the haters and doubters who have "breathed a sigh of relief" that a person they so greatly fear and ENVY has made this decision for now---will not in any way ever be rewarded. They can laugh in comfort now, but the righteous will always have the last laugh and the final victory--in ways we don't always see beforehand.

Yes THOSE people will go on to lead lives destined for mediocrity while holding a constant inferiority complex. And our country is destined for mediocrity and self-destruction with those kinds of people around. I'm not even talking about the Hollywood haters--I'm talkin the GOP insiders, the Romney folk, the traitor McCain aides, the Faux News honchos, and the all the so called conservatives and Christians in this country that turned their backs on "the real deal" when they had their chance.

You can ‘believe’ all you want. But without facts it’s only conjecture. So, why the vanity?

I think it was pretty simple.

The GOP establishment would have fought her and split the party badly. THe only way she could have contended is to go 3rd party.... which would ensure Obama’s re-election.

Haard to defeat two political parties in a presidential election.

Whoever is President from 2013-2017 will be blamed for the economic catastrophe engineered by Ubama that will occur during that time.

Fact is, it's Myth's turn and the GOP ruling-class will anoint him as the candidate.

And he will lose, big time.

There is no difference between Myth and Ubama.

At least Ubama will finally shoulder the blame which he so richly deserves.

Maybe she’s going to endorse and support Cain in exchange for VP slot, lay low for 8 years then take the top of the ticket, after most of the fixes are started.

Myself, it doesn’t matter what a persons complexion is, but perhaps there is a thought that another “black” candidate against Obama will split the “black” vote and Palin can deliver most of the TEA party (the ones that aren’t hatin’ on her).

No matter what Palin does, it’s wrong. Her enemies her followers are angery, her detractors are gloating. Yet, I believe that she made the decision that was best for her family. I agree with much of your assessment.

Sarah is not the savior of this country any more than Obama. If she would have run, I think she would have won, but who knows. Maybe you’re right. Our country is so far gone we don’t deserve a godly leader. I hope you’re wrong.

THANK YOU, Sarah, for bringing so much to the light of day. Keep up the fight.

You’re getting a lot of mileage out of some guy’s Sun Tzu’s analogies....though it may make sense in the not to far distance pass.

IMO (take it for what it’s worth) Rick Perry getting in weighed on her decision.

Regardless of your feelings about this post, her countenance on TV changed. Some said she looked tired. Others said hey saw a sadness. Who knows. But something changed..

Yup. She made a political calculation, probably long ago, that she couldn't win and wasn't going to run. Palin kept her options open and teased this out way too long to keep the spotlight on herself, but it became obvious she wasn't really likely to run a long time ago.

All this talk of something changing in the last few days, or that she was under some new threat, or any of these other conspiracies are just fantasies dreamt up by people who were dead wrong about Palin's intentions and are looking for ways to explain how they misjudged the situation so badly.

I certainly hope you are right. I can see evidence both ways. Having no inside access I certainly can't say.

I do know one thing though - if she had tossed her hat in the ring she would have been a major player - and probably a leader in the polls - almost immediately. We aren't talking about somebody coming in and grabbing a 10% share here...I really think she would have had a solid chance of winning the nomination.

Honestly, I have trouble understanding this. She will likely go from major player - very possible Presidential nominee (and also possible winner - who knows) - to basically a minor sidelines pundit. Contributions for SarahPAC will likely dry up faster than a Texas puddle after a light summer shower.

Honestly I can't understand this.

Thanks, CondoleezzaProtege.

*PING* to CynicalBear.

My thoughts are that up to the Iowa State Fair, and the speech, she was "probably" running: the only disconcerting thing I saw was in the famous video "Iowa Passion" at 1:16-1:17 where her remarks sounded canned: but this was balanced by the segment at 0:52 - 0:53 where there is a voice-over questions "Are you going to run for President."

The other thing is that during her interviews with (I think) Greta van Sustern about a week or so before the McGinniss book came out, she looked -- not just tired, but internally drained, like a tree hit near the roots with an axe. I don't know if this was after she had prayed and God said, "No!" or (as I have heard reported today) two of her kids vetoed the run; or whether the first hint of the attacks prepared against her had been passed to her by the inner circle.

But at that point, something inside me said (even as I hoped it were not true) -- "She might not be running."

But, to be fair, even in the Iowa Passion video, she talked about the need for ordinary Americans to get involved and take the country back. People were more than willing to crawl over broken glass to fight for the Country with her as the head: but you never know what happened. Had she been rebuffed by GOP moneymen? Had her strategy been based on "one more RINO" entering to split the lib vote, giving her a chance against a divided enemy? Did the moving up of Primary deadlines within the GOP change the calculus?

I wish I were at peace with this: but I fear dark days ahead as I watch Obaama and his Orcs move the pieces towards a classic Marxist takeover: monopolizing energy and transport (attempted); establishing the right to KILL AMERICANS WITHOUT TRIAL (WTF???); demonizing political enemies and accusing them of terror in direct contradiction of the evidence; Harry Reid moving to remove the filibuster from the Senate and legislation being introduced to permanently seal Obaama's records; our enemies, including a nuclear North Korea, China, and possibly soon a nuclear Iran, emboldened.

Let us PRAY; let us work together to OVERTHROW the wiles of the enemy: "Do not be overcome by evil but overcome evil with good."
