Two men in Northwest Alaska drowned after trying to drive their snowmachine over open water on the Kobuk River early Tuesday, according to Alaska State Troopers.

Man, that looks like a pretty unforgiving place to live.
My dad was a teacher, and his lower-48 school brought in Inuit and Alaska Native kids for the school year. In one year, the younger of two brothers nearly froze to death, and later, both were killed by a bear. Pretty unforgiving is a truthful statement.

Didn’t they know this is only done over SHALLOW water?
Then, when the snowmobile sinks (and it will), they can stand up and walk back to shore.
