Doesn’t hurt at all having canned veggies stashed.
But the more I think about it, the more I tend towards carbs/beans.
The reason? n average human doesn’t need a huge amount of protein. A can of tuna will be enough for a day for the average person, as long as they are not hugely physically active.
But you need calories. Just to maintain your body temps if nothing else.
And I think most canned VG’s will give you fiber, some vitamins, calcium, phosphorous, but not much in the carbs or protein department.
Seems that every year around these parts we get a chance to pratice 'survival skills and plans when the electricity goes off for a few days due to snow and downed power lines. A particularly difficult episode caused me to order a water bladder for the tub, so a sufficient supply of clean water was available ... the power to water pumping station went off and the gravity delivery of the water tower ran too low for pressure up to my house.
We have beans as well. My son is the only three-year-old that doesn’t eat chips at Chipotle. He shovels the black beans and rice as quickly as he can. I chose to go with canned beans. I do have some dried, but I decided that in a SHTF scenario water would be precious and canned beans obviously don’t need rehydrated. I’m going to grow turtle beans and navy beans this year as well.
