Governor Palin’s Current & Former Aides Release Statement on ‘Game Change’

Current and former staff members of Governor Palin’s who spoke out against HBO’s propaganda movie ‘Game Change’ at a press conference last month, have now seen the entire movie and released the following statement:

Despite HBO’s best efforts, we have all seen the movie Game Change. We stand by everything we previously said on the record. The movie is at best “historical fiction” – historical only in that Sarah Palin was nominated and campaigned for the office of Vice President. The movie is a series of scenes where the dialogue, locations and participants are invented or rendered unrecognizable for dramatic effect. HBO and its surrogates continue to argue that they spoke to 25 sources. None of them are on the record nor is their level of “involvement” in the campaign disclosed. Not one source is on the record in either the book or in the movie and it is clear why. The authors of the book never even traveled on the campaign with Governor Palin. We call on HBO to add the fiction disclaimer.

I have read the book. The authors gave the greatest deference to Obama and tepidly trashed Hillary! and Edwards. Fully 2/3rds of the book is about the Dem Primary. The last 1/3 is about McCain and Palin. They trash both of them but, knowing the authors’ bias, I read it with a grain of salt. I read this book recently so it is still fresh in my mind. HBO should be embarrassed but they won't be. At least the Obama worship has opened the majority of American’s eyes to the overwhelming Left-wing bias in Big Media.

I will not read the book or view the movie, due to what I have learned on FR lately. Since Sarah Palin folded and withdrew from the campaign, I see no point in anyone continuing to either smear or boost her.

Frankly, I’m embarassed every time I see some lame news quote from her. The Tuesday night statement that she’d voted for Newt, but won’t endorse him was a huge “WTF?!” moment for me, but vividly illustrates why I feel the way I do.

Why is it that Sarah Palin appearing as Sarah Palin is appealing and likeable but Julianne Moore playacting she’s Sarah Palin instead has a vacant, forced, and standoffish look?

The incestual and lesbian roles Moore has portrayed in her recent movies perhaps have taken a larger toll on the once-attractive Moore than on the actual Wasilla housewife and grandmother Moore seeks to denigrates in this work of fiction.

I managed to make it through "Game Change" tonight, and here's my opinion (for what it's worth). I think some of the moments that are portrayed actually happened; HOWEVER, I think the perceptions and interpretations of those events is slanted and colored by the liberal viewpoint.

Do I think there was a moment where Sarah Palin felt overwhelmed? Absolutely. But I believe her frustration was that the McCain camp had a defined, "cookie cutter" role for her as the VP nominee and quite frankly, she didn't fit that cookie cutter. She "rebelled" and went out to be herself.

The film chose to spin her bad interviews and such by implying that it was 1) a lack of intelligence, 2) a lack of preparation, and 3) some sort of grandiose sense of invincibility.

Now back to history. Palin was a surprise pick, who wanted to do her best for McCain. I think she tried to force herself into McCain's cookie cutter, but couldn't do it in the end. The pressure was overwhelming. And with that, she stepped out to be her own person.

The film tried to spin that as egomania. I don't think there was any egotism at all on display here. I believe Sarah Palin couldn't compromise who she is to fit McCain's VP mold.

To me, that represents solid core values and character! The film always looks at the glass as half-empty, but I think a conservative could watch the film and find it half-full. They tried to spin it into a real hit-piece (particularly the ending), but in the end, I found myself liking Sarah Palin MORE for certain events in the film.
