Very cool Civ, I didn't know about those. I should try to see them one day.

muawiyah, I was with you till you said:
Then, you get below the bear, who is running down hill and can't stop on the snow and he impales himself on your spear.

LOL! Just imagine the poor guy who gets that job.

"Enoch, just go down the hill and wait for the running bear to fall into your spear!
It'll be easy, I promise!"

The drawing is an instruction manual for how to hunt and kill a bear.

Remember, the Sa'ami is relatively small compared to the bear. He has little room for error. If he were to run up to the bear and poke him he might hit a rib.

If, on the other hand, he is able to get ahead of the bear on the trail, and has the bear come down hill toward him, then when he spears him he has more than his own muscle at play. The bear will run into the spear with far more force than the man could apply plunging the spear into the bear.

So, it's going to be tough to get somebody to do this ~ no doubt ~ but if the bear needs killed somebody's got to do it. You reward him with the claws ~ which he can put in thongs and hand out to his favorites. You give him the bear's gall bladder for a long.............. well, you get the idea.

A successful bear hunter who uses his skis and spear correctly will get ALL the girls!
