EXCELLENT series!
The ruined it with the unnecessary sexualization in a Scandal in Belgravia. My family loved it until then. It is witty and great television, but now we have to be on our guard.
Yeah
I didn’t like that either, it wasn’t needed in the story .
The beautiful thing about the new series was that it was real without stooping, then that episode hit and we were like “why”? The story works without stooping and it wasn’t just the nudity, but the implied S & M with an underage girl. Can’t these guys just believing in a good story, solid characters and top drawer acting and directing?
It’s like little kids giggling over their privates. Grow up.
What girl? I don’t remember that. Are you referring to the member of the royal family who was involved with Irene Adler?
This is an *excellent* episode, def not to be missed!
“EXCELLENT series!”
You mean we have to watch PBS to see this?
IIRC it was during the opening credits.
I’ve just finished watching it.
There is a scene just before the opening credits which certainly refers to S&M with a girl - apparently a princess as she is referred to as ‘Your Highness’ - but there’s absolutely no indication she’s underage.
With a fictional series, it’s dangerous to speculate, but in real world Britain at the moment, there are actually no underage Princesses bearing the title of Her Royal Highness - the youngest is HRH Princess Eugenie of York who is now 22, but who was 21 at the time the episode was first aired.
(Technically, nine-year-old The Lady Louise Windsor, daughter of the Earl and Countess of Wessex, is probably entitled to be addressed as HRH Princess Louise of Wessex, but her parents have chosen not to have their children use royal titles in an attempt to give them a better chance at a more normal life).
Thanks for the background. For some reason the “girl” seemed young to me. It doesn’t matter to me, net, net, net. I really had enjoyed the series and my kids who are teens were looking forward to seeing the very first episode of the new season. I’m glad I watched it first. We skipped that one. The other two were fine.
It’s frustrating that Netflix still only has season one available.
