UPDATE 7/10/12 @ 10:45 p.m. JACKSON COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Police say what happened down Miller Hollow Road in Jackson County for 10 years is horrendous.
"This is a case that is tenfold of what our average domestic is and maybe more than that. It comes down to what appears to be slavery and torture, it seems to be the aspects of this case," Jackson County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Tony Boggs said.
Peter Lizon was arrested on malicious wounding charges; he may face more as the investigation unfolds.
Sheriffs deputies say it all began when Lizon's wife showed up at a crisis center in Parkersburg, W.Va.
They say she had scars on her wrists and ankles because she was chained up with metal padlocks, and her feet were badly mutilated because Lizon allegedly smashed them with a scoop on a farm tractor.
They say she was also badly burned after she was hit with a hot frying pan. Furthermore, she suffered a miscarriage -- allegedly because of the abuse and had to give birth to another child while being chained up.

Horrific abuse. I have goosebumps after reading it.
Capital Punishment Ping.
Give me 2 bullets, so if one doesn’t do this sub-human in the second one will...I hear-by volunteer for the job...
“Bayliss also said Lizons wife, the alleged victim, is standing by her man through it all.”
?!?
Dittos. If I could hit him between the eyes from over here I’d be more than happy to. Some people just need a good killin!
This man should never have the opportunity to go home.
If you read the original story, most of the claims are based on the account by a woman who claims to have been told these things by the wife.
IOW, they are hearsay and not admissible in court. For some of these injuries, notably the one to her foot, there are other obvious causes.
Certainly not defending the guy, but basing our reaction on what the media prints of what was reported by the police based on hearsay is a pretty tenuous chain of “evidence.”
Also, people do exist who volunteer to be chained up and treated as a slave. Don’t ask me why, and we associate them more with San Fran than WV, but that is a fact.
I recall the poor mentally impaired black lady who was “kidnapped and taken to a torture and humiliation shed in southern West Virginia by a family of white trash”....
Turned out she repeatedly drove herself to the shed for the drugs and sex. The entire story fell apart. The ‘victim’ turned out to be a hardened criminal.
The race baiters initially raced to West Virginia, but after scanning this case, knew there was no pay day, and skedaddled back to their estates.
If a person volunteers for such treatment, is it a crime to provide it?
That’s right, the wife made him do this. He’s just an innocent victim.
My request for info was generic, not based on this particular case.
Does it legally constitute assault, for example, if a (weird) person requests branding and the other person complies? People all the time get tied up and flogged for purposes of sexual pleasure, even paying for it. Doing this to someone against their will is obviously assault and battery. Is it still A&B if participation is voluntary?
The most popular book series among women right now is based on exactly such a relationship.
As for this particular case, the guy is probably guilty as charged. But there are other possible explanations for her supposed injuries, and there are people with weird lifestyles.
If she refuses to testify against him it’s going to be difficult to convict.

Just seeing that pic makes me hear banjo music.
I’m a re-loader.What are you going to use?
It’s a face that plainly says: “I married one of the sheep once, almost accidentally.”
“Bayliss also said Lizons wife, the alleged victim, is standing by her man through it all.”
...interestingly, this is how a caller to Becks show described Obama voters. The voters are the “wives” and Obama is the “wife beater”. They can’t really say why they continue to support him through all of the abuse, but they do.
That's how I've described republican voters for some time as well. The unending chorus this year of how much people dislike Mitt, but are voting for him anyway pretty much underline the concept.
