CNBC tries to spin bad news with that headline:

In essence, no change from last week -- depending on the 'revised' figure.

==

Reuters.com also tries to spin:

And this, also from Reuters:

My washing machine doesn't spin that much on spin cycle.

We’ve been between above 350,000 for the past 3 years. The numbers haven’t changed. They go up 2,000.... They go down 3,000..... and they go up again. It’s a stagnant pattern.

there’s the money quote “The prior week’s figure was revised up to show 3,000 more applications than previously reported”

that revision along with the word “unexpected” is part of every financial report ever released since Obama took office.

They FELL 3,000 because the previous week’s number was revised UPWARD by 3,000.

Up the Down Staircase. So, in other words, unemployment claims really rose by 3,000 over last week but they really didn’t because last week’s figure was once more set arbitrarily low so it could be revised upward (for what, the 68th week out of 69) to the same level as this week so the “press” sycophants dosn’t have to report that unemployment claims increased?

They only fell because last week’s number was revised upward from 382K to 385K.

Without the revision, they wouldn’t have changed. And of course, next week this number will be revised up.

Shouldn’t the clueless analysts be sacked immediately and be included in the number?

This report by various posters is typically in Breaking News every week. It was there again and removed. It is breaking, it is news.

76 upward revisions in 77 weeks. It’s the only way they can show a decrease in claims from one week to the next.

I chuckled when I noticed the Mod had removed this thread from Breaking News.

I guess they have seen these boilerplated figures and spin for 45 weeks, so it is no longer Breaking News. lol

The media and the CPUSA (Communist Party of the United States America), aka democrats, are all so very lucky there are no truth in advertising laws when applied to political reporting.

Seems everyday we are in some 1950s movie where the subversive communists are infiltrating unions and the media. When TCM runs some of those old movies it is like they had a crystal ball or just communist history repeating itself.

I am amazed at how many times and how hard the government and the media are poking us and unlike our Founders we have not responded.

Government departments are hiding the real numbers to protect their jobs and the media is giving them full cover.

If you don’t think we lost the cold war re-read the communist manifesto and see if you can honestly say they did not succeed without firing a shot.

And the "media" defines it as "recovery." Yes, it's ludicrous, but it certainly is enough to fool the mindless millions of Americans who muddle about with no clue to reality.
