I think we were probably at the brink when the concept began that 51% of the voting public, or judges, or elected officials could somehow define marriage to include impossibilites like ‘gay marriage’ in the way the state goes about recognizing the institution. After that, it was only a matter of time before the state definition and the actual definition of marriage parted ways.
