I prefer to think of it as friends aiding friends in an honorable act.

I look at it this way - if someone wants to take a shot at ending their own life, they are welcome to have at it.

There's nothing honorable for asking others to render assistance to an act with such complete and utter finality. No one should put another human being into that sort of position.

Even worse is that this was done under the auspices of the State with the direct involvement and active participation of medical professionals. Ultimately this sort of thing actually undermines the credibility of doctors, the entire medical community and its support apparatus, which stands upon a rock that reads "first, do no harm".
