Ohio man banned from having children

ELYRIA, Ohio, - An Ohio judge ordered an admitted deadbeat dad not to have any more children until he proves he can support the four he already has.

Asim Taylor, 35, of Elyria was ordered not to procreate during the 5-year probation he was given by Lorain County Judge James Walther after pleading guilty to nearly $79,000 in unpaid child support going back to 2009.

The Elyria Morning Journal said Walther wrote his order is in the "interests of doing justice, rehabilitating the offender."

Walther's order can be lifted if Taylor proves he has the wherewithal to support another child in addition to his current brood of four. But Taylor's lawyer said the sentence was overboard because it dings him for being poor and, in effect, bans him from having sex for five years.

"...ordered an admitted deadbeat dad not to have any more children..."

Yeah, that'll work.

What are they going to do if he fathers another child anyway?

This is hilariously unenforceable.

Maybe if the judge had said for him not to have children with any women who can’t afford to raise them...

Or give him a male chastity belt... (they do exist, you know)

(Pictures of one popular brand, sort of NSFW, but on an existential level.)

Or maybe the judge should offer him an all-expense-paid vasectomy.

Idiot deadbeat, stupider judge and the foundations to government involvement in human procreation.

Ummm, isn't the State garnishing his wages?
If he doesn't have a job, why doesn't the State 'hire' him (through the courts) to clean up the State; I am a big supporter of chain gangs again.
How about chemical castration?
Why only 5 years, if he hasn't supported them now, he will now and/or with a new one on the way?
Why do I feel *I* would be a better judge in this instance and make sure the TAXPAYERS aren't getting fleeced...again

Agree, while this guy should not be “fathering” any more kids, the judge has no right to impose such an order. Is the judge also going to put such an order on the women who get pregnant by him and men like him and are being supported by taxpayer money?

I am starting to think that, in the case of out of wedlock births, child support should be 100% voluntary and zero public assistance should be given. The out of wedlock birthrate would plummet, if the women knew they could not count on support from the daddy or the taxpayer.

Imagine the outcry from femi-Nazi’s if this judge had ordered some fluke not to have any more children?

Sounds good, but runs counter to all prior legal precedent and several international treaties. Totally non-enforceable.

I am starting to think that, in the case of out of wedlock births, child support should be 100% voluntary and zero public assistance should be given.

Others have suggested that, including some major social analysts. I'm inclined to agree. Unfair as it is that men can walk away from the consequences of their sexual behavior, that's just the way it is. No matter how much he has sex, he's never going to be pregnant. This being the case - the unavoidable facts - public policy addressing unmarried childbearing has to focus on giving women incentives to make smarter choices about sex.

Private policy, as it were, and private charity need to be focussed on changing the hearts of both men and women so that they will make moral choices, out of concern both for themselves and for their children or possible children.

They need to have FORCED LABOR CAMPS for fathers who refuse to pay for their children.
