I have 3-4 hundred sq ft in three plots planted about three weeks apart for a cover crop. The oldest is turning yellow and a few stems have hairs but no grains yet.

I have waited to order rhizomes and now it is time and I can’t decide what to order! What are you growing?

I have (I believe) a Willamette, a Cascade and a lagering hop. I will find the planting map and let you know for sure. All three are three years old and not doing optimally. Alongside the old clay brick silo is not a good choice for cooler climes but I have modified their home somewhat and saw a yield last year.

I plan to get some more and different rhizomes this year and plant out on the eastern edge of my main field near a tree line on the tilting poles for easier harvest. Where I lived last, I had a single vine over 10 years old that was monstrous - on a south side of the house. However, when it hit the roofline it turned back from the heat. Yield was spotty but growth was spectacular.

My barley is a two row strain named Conlon. I plan to seed an area of about 2,500 ft^2. If all goes well this summer, I hope to toast the global demise with a nice lager or dark bitter (not too much, though).

The other two vines are Nugget and Kent Golding.

Mississippi Senate Bill 2183 (legalize home-brewing) has been signed by the Governor for approval.

Yes! I think it does not go into effect until July 1. I was just in Meridian later part of last week, checking on my house and property. Beautiful weather.
